And then, her wild rage halted… just for a moment. Layla stiffened. A single, terrible thought clawed its way into her head.Her lips parted.
She remembered something. Something she hadn't thought of in days.

Layla's scream pierced the room like a siren, echoing off the high walls and bouncing back at her like mockery. The shrill, guttural sound was so sudden, so raw, that her secretary instinctively flinched where she stood and stumbled back several steps, nearly knocking into a decorative side table.
She stood there, trembling, her hands clenched into fists by her sides, chest rising and falling rapidly.
Her entire body radiated heat and frustration like a volcano seconds before eruption.
"I asked Elena!" she seethed, every word dripping venom. "I asked her why Avery had met that damn IFA director!"
She was pacing now, wild and erratic, heels thudding against the marble floor like gunshots. Her voice cracked under the weight of her fury.
"And that fool! That idiot!"
