Silas grinned lazily, his eyes sparkling, his slightly disheveled hair adding to his playful appearance. "How come you're in my room?" he asked, Avery rolled her eyes, a playful smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
"You remember me now?" she said, her voice carrying a hint of sarcastic humor, before giving him a gentle push that sent him back onto the bed. "Sleep. I also have to go to my room." She started to move away from the bed, already planning her escape from this unexpected moment, but before she could take another step, Silas quickly reached out and grabbed her hand.
Avery halted, her heart skipping a beat as she looked down at their intertwined fingers. Silas, with his slightly flushed face from the alcohol, looked up at her, his expression turning soft and innocent.
"Are you angry with me?" His voice was uncharacteristically vulnerable, and the way his puppy-like eyes gazed up at her made something stir in her chest.
