Chapter 4 - First Dungeon Dive: Complete?

Lucas lay sprawled on the scorching desert sand, his chest heaving with exertion. Just as he thought he couldn't move, a bottle of water materialized in his hand. He twisted off the cap, tossing it aside, and gulped down the water with a deep sigh of contentment.

System, what's my current objective status?

After killing his first zombie, the system had initiated a kill tracker, presenting specific objectives Lucas could complete for additional rewards beyond the standard drops.

[Kill Zombies: 99/99]

[Kill Dungeon Boss: 0/1]

[Completion Reward: 1 x Skill (Body Enhancement), 1 x Book (Warding: Complete Archive), 1 x Item (Diadem of Ravenclaw), 5 x Levels.]

A wide, Cheshire-like grin spread across Lucas' face as he absorbed his progress. The rewards were far too tantalizing for him to be anything less than utterly thorough in this dungeon.

Throughout his relentless pursuit of kills, Lucas had amassed a plethora of additional rewards in the form of drops. Each defeated zombie typically yielded between $50 and $100 in cash, alongside valuable materials like Goblin silver, potion ingredients, and various alchemical components.

Standing up and dusting off the sand clinging to his skin, Lucas resumed his trek, hoping to find the final boss. During his surprisingly easy massacre of the low-tiered zombies, he had honed his magical combat abilities to a much more refined level.

Where once he struggled to handle multiple zombies simultaneously, now he could bind some with transfigured chains while bombarding the others with a multitude of lethal spells.

Beyond the tangible items he'd acquired, Lucas had gained deeper insight into his system and its hidden functions. It had become apparent that The Gamer truly embodied the essence of a gaming character.

Killing a mob would net him experience points, which would in turn accumulate until he leveled up.

Each level granted him an increase in power, be it physical, magical or mental.

(Author's Note: Removed the stat system after a couple chapters, I honestly don't even know why I used it. Made everything SO MUCH HARDER. Simple fix, level 100 is max of the species / class.)

Lucas continued walking through the barren wasteland, his eyes scanning the horizon, maintaining a keen awareness of the boss mob he was about to face.

I wonder how much stronger he'll be in comparison to the other zombies? Lucas contemplated. Pulling up his status panel, he stared at the available stat points he had yet to assign.

[Status

Level: 9

Class: Wizard (Harry Potter)

(Humans range between level 1 - 5.)]

"System, can you give me any information about the standards of levels in the Harry Potter world?" Lucas questioned.

[Albus Dumbledore is equivalent to a level 75 Wizard. Beings such as Merlin are around 80 - 90.]

Damn, he was a high-level player! I really can't figure out what his stat points would be close to though, which means it was just something predetermined from his genetics and aptitude.

Taking a moment to pause his walk, Lucas weighed his options on what he could do to raise his level even further.

———

After ten minutes of walking, Lucas heard the distinct sounds of a zombie ahead of him. Squinting, he looked forward as he arrived at the summit of a sand dune.

A hulking mass of flesh stood before him, easily three meters in height and thick enough to rival the combined weight of five ordinary zombies. Its rotting body exuded a thick stench of blood and decay.

[Dungeon Boss: Rotunda The Rotten]

Lucas couldn't help but snort at the zombie's name. Rotunda turned its head at the unexpected sound of laughter, its large mouth opening in a guttural groan before it began lumbering towards the human.

Watching Rotunda advance, Lucas transfigured the surrounding sand grains into chains that shot forth, clasping onto the corpse's body. Each limb was wrapped in a thick chain, and an additional one latched onto its neck.

Taking a deep breath, Lucas focused, pulling magic from deep within him. This would be a true test of his current magical power.

Diffindo

An arc of magic blasted forth from Lucas' outstretched hand. The blade of magic flew vertically and slammed into the zombie's left side, cleanly severing its arm and leg.

Bombarda

A large explosion erupted from Rotunda's head. Flesh and blood spewed from the source of the spell as Lucas watched the mayhem he had caused.

The hulking body convulsed a couple of times before collapsing to the floor, its remains slowly turning into ash.

"Two spells, that's it?!" Lucas complained aloud.

"I thought it would have some type of resistance, but the bitch died a couple seconds slower than the other trash mobs."

[Ding! Congratulations on completing your first dungeon.]

[Zombies Defeated: 99/99]

[Boss Defeated: 1/1]

[Rewards have been distributed to your inventory.]

[Level up x 6!]

At those words, Lucas felt the distinct rush of his stats being elevated again. Smiling, he walked up to the zombie corpse and picked up the last of his haul for the week.

"What the fuck is this?" He said, his finger closing over a vial of blue liquid.

[Obtained Items: $1,000, 1 x Book: Apparition, Twilight Vampire Card (Enhancement)]

(Author's Note: Edited the bloodline to enhancement / trait. Read next chapter for information.)

Rubbing his eyes at the words, Lucas stood as confusion swept through his mind.

System, whose fucking blood is this?

Author's Note: Hey all, first chapter for today. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. As I mentioned previously, dungeons only happen once a week in the story, so the following chapters will be more Twilight orientated.

I hope you're fine with the changes I made to the System. Much love <3

100 PS = Additional chapters.
