Chapter 4 - Testing

The Bugatti Veyron sped along the road.

About half an hour later, they arrived at the meeting place with Song Chaoyu—the Qingteng Golf Club located on the outskirts of Haiqing City.

The club operated on a strict membership system and didn't accept ordinary tourists. To maintain membership, one needed to pay an annual fee of two million yuan.

Those qualified to come here were either wealthy or noble.

As soon as the Bugatti Veyron parked in the lot, a club manager hurried over.

Click.

The manager personally opened the car door for Fang Yu.

With a respectful and flattering smile on his face, he bowed slightly and said, "Mr. Fang, as soon as I heard you were coming, I immediately dropped everything to welcome you. The venue and equipment have already been prepared."

Fang Yu stepped out onto the parking lot ground.

"Mm."

He replied indifferently, glancing at the club manager. "Well done."

He didn't reject flatterers—at least he didn't feel disgusted by them. There were very few nobles who completely disliked others trying to please them.

At least Fang Yu wasn't that type of person.

"This is what I should do." Fang Yu's praise made the manager look delighted. He immediately added, "Miss Song has just arrived and entered the venue ahead of you."

"I see."

Nodding, Fang Yu walked into the venue, entered his exclusive suite, and changed clothes with Leng Han's assistance.

Then they took a golf cart to the course.

Soon, a graceful figure came into Fang Yu's sight.

The woman had a cool, elegant face with bright eyes and white teeth, thin and distinct eyebrows, and fair skin as delicate as a baby's.

Her nose was refined and straight, her lips red like rose petals.

Her black hair flowed down like a waterfall, as cold as a spring on a snowy mountain, displaying an ethereal and aloof temperament that was breathtaking.

Wearing a white sports mini-skirt, her curvaceous figure was shown to perfection.

A breeze blew, ruffling her black hair.

There was an air of nobility and splendor about her.

Song Chaoyu!

Even Fang Yu was momentarily stunned.

But the next second, he quickly regained his composure.

"As described in the book—beautiful women are disasters, captivating people's hearts. No wonder even the protagonist Chen Ye couldn't resist her temptation and was used by her."

Fang Yu's heart trembled secretly, and he became more alert.

"You're here early?"

Walking up to Song Chaoyu's side, Fang Yu spoke first in greeting.

"I just arrived not long ago."

Song Chaoyu turned around, looked at Fang Yu, and smiled slightly.

Those eyes seemed to contain the sea of stars—brilliant, mysterious, and captivating.

"In that case, let's begin." Fang Yu simply picked up a golf club and walked forward without saying anything more.

If it were the previous Fang Yu, he would have rushed forward to fawn over her.

After all, it was difficult for almost anyone to resist Song Chaoyu's near-perfect appearance and extraordinary temperament.

Not to mention that the original owner was a typical villain-style simp.

Unfortunately, no matter how much a villain flatters, he can never win a woman's heart—especially Song Chaoyu, the villain boss of the book whom even the protagonist Chen Ye couldn't conquer.

Song Chaoyu frowned almost imperceptibly.

She always felt that this young master of the Fang family... seemed a little different from before.

In the past, Fang Yu was a playboy, always carrying the ostentatious air of a rich kid. Whenever he saw her, he would come up to show his courtesy, taking every opportunity to sneak glances at her.

But this time, he had only glanced at her a few times before looking away.

He addressed her in a bland manner as "Miss Song."

This made Song Chaoyu feel a little uncomfortable and also somewhat puzzled.

"Is it an illusion?"

With her back to Fang Yu, Song Chaoyu frowned slightly. "Or..."

Her eyes shifted slightly.

It seemed she had thought of a possibility.

Was Fang Yu... deliberately trying to attract her attention this way?

Nowadays, many boys liked to use this kind of reverse psychology—playing hard to get and attracting girls' attention by pretending to be indifferent and unconcerned.

Song Chaoyu's impression and evaluation of Fang Yu became even lower.

"How childish and ridiculous."

"But Fang Yu still has great value. Now is far from the time to fall out with him or the Fang family."

Song Chaoyu composed her expression and followed Fang Yu's steps, slowly catching up.

They took a golf cart and soon arrived at the starting point.

"Let's play a game. Stroke play or match play?" Fang Yu asked.

"Let's do match play."

"Ladies first, Miss Song, please go ahead."

Song Chaoyu didn't hesitate and took the golf club directly from the caddie.

Time flew by, and several hours passed quickly.

Buzz~

At that moment, Song Chaoyu's pocket vibrated slightly.

She frowned slightly, took out her phone, and said, "Wait a moment, I need to take this call."

The call connected immediately.

"Hello, what's the matter? What?"

Song Chaoyu's face darkened slightly as she said, "Alright, I understand."

Fang Yu asked, "What happened?"

"My father felt a bit unwell just now, but the family's private doctor took timely measures and he's fine now."

Song Chaoyu hung up the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.

Fang Yu said, "In that case, Miss Song should probably go back to visit him, right?"

Song Chaoyu shook her head. "My father said he was fine and that I didn't need to come back."

Hearing this, Fang Yu's eyes narrowed.

Song Guofu.

Song Chaoyu's father was the current head of Song Group. However, there were rumors that due to managing such a large enterprise, he had developed chronic illnesses, and his condition had been worsening in recent years.

That was why Song Guofu had been working hard to promote a marriage between the Fang and Song families.

Because Song Guofu had no sons, only two daughters, and the eldest daughter had died in an accident a few years ago, only Song Chaoyu remained in the younger generation of the Song family.

In the traditional mindset of large families, Song Chaoyu, as a woman, was neither qualified nor capable of managing the family.

Unless... through marriage!

Song Guofu needed to rely on the Fang family's power to maintain his lineage's status and control.

To ordinary people, wealthy families seemed extremely prosperous, but they also had many troubles. For example, there were brutal power struggles between various factions within the family.

If Song Chaoyu couldn't marry into the Fang family, people from other branches would try every means to seize the rights of their lineage.

This was something Song Guofu could not tolerate.

He was someone who placed great importance on family interests and even put family interests above his own life.

So even when his illness flared up, he still asked Song Chaoyu to continue staying here to avoid any problems with the marriage between the two families.

Song Chaoyu picked up the golf club again, but seemed a little restless, as if worried about her father's health.

After looking at Song Chaoyu meaningfully, Fang Yu suddenly said:

"Is Uncle Song's illness really just from being overworked and exhausted?"

Song Chaoyu's hand holding the golf club trembled slightly.

She leaned on the golf club and slowly straightened up. Her eyes seemed to contain the gleam of blades, extremely sharp as she stared at Fang Yu.

"What do you mean?"

The tranquility and gentleness in those eyes vanished.

Instead, there was an extreme chill and coldness that seemed capable of piercing through a person's body and soul!
