Chapter 4 - Captured

- [ ] The sun rose lazily over the small town, painting the sky in hues of gold and pink. It was the weekend, a time for Mia to unwind from her week of tension and worry. But the shadow of Ethan loomed over her mind. She had hoped that after her heartfelt conversation with Ray, things would settle down. Yet, there was an unease that clung to her like the summer humidity.

Mia sat on the porch, her thoughts drifting back to the conversation with her friends. Sophie, Clara, and Rosalie had teased her about being pursued by a wealthy man, but the truth was far more complicated. Ethan was not just a rich boy with charming looks and smooth words. He was a storm on the horizon, fueled by desperation and anger over her father's debt. And she was the collateral.

Later that morning, Ray showed up, his brows knitted together with concern. "You alright?" he asked, his voice steady. Mia smiled weakly, grateful for his support. "I just wish it would all go away," she sighed. Ray took her hand, squeezing it reassuringly. "You'll get through this. We'll get through this."

However, unknown to Mia, Ethan was already setting his plan into motion. He had vowed to take Mia away, whether she liked it or not. Determined to make her see things his way, he enlisted the help of his bodyguards, Liam and Oliver, who were more than capable of enforcing his will.

As the day stretched on, Mia and Ray decided to go to the local café. It was a quaint place, filled with laughter and the scent of freshly brewed coffee. They were enjoying their time when suddenly, the door burst open, and in walked Ethan, flanked by Liam and Oliver. The atmosphere shifted instantly—laughter faded, and whispers spread like wildfire.

Ethan's icy blue eyes locked onto Mia's. "There you are," he said, his voice smooth but filled with a command that sent chills down her spine. "We need to talk."

Mia's heart raced. She stood up, emotions swirling inside her. "I don't want to talk to you, Ethan! Just leave me alone!"

Ray stepped in front of Mia, his protective instincts kicking in. "You can't just barge in here and bully her. She doesn't want to go with you," he asserted.

Ethan's expression hardened, and he looked at Ray as if he were an insect beneath his shoe. "You have no idea what I'm capable of, do you? I'm doing this for her own good."

Before Mia could react, Ethan nodded to Liam and Oliver. They moved with swift precision, grabbing Mia's arms before she could escape. She struggled, panic flooding her, "Let me go! I won't go with you!"

Mia!" Ray shouted, reaching out for her, but Liam blocked him, a solid wall of muscle.

Ethan approached her, leaning closer. "Your father owes me money. You have to understand, this is for his sake. Don't you care about him?" His words twisted in her heart.

"I don't care if he owes you money! This isn't right!" she cried, tears brimming in her eyes. But it was as if Ethan's mind was made up. He grasped her wrist with a firm hold, his bodyguards keeping everyone else at bay.

Mia's pleas fell on deaf ears as they dragged her outside, the warm sun suddenly feeling like a harsh spotlight. Her father, Gabe, had always taught her to stand strong, but this moment felt like a total betrayal of everything she believed in.

Back at home, Gabe was pacing, his mind racing. He hadn't been expecting his daughter to be taken so forcefully. He had never wanted this for Mia. He had hoped to find a way to resolve his debts without putting her in danger. Anxiety clawed at his insides as he realized the severity of the situation. He had to act quickly; time was running out.

Meanwhile, Mia was being ushered into Ethan's sleek black car, the roar of the engine amplifying her fear. "You don't have to do this!" she shouted, desperate. "We can find a way to settle this without me!"

But Ethan simply looked at her with that same cold determination. "You're coming with me whether you like it or not. Everything will be fine. Just trust me."

Mia's mind spiraled. She thought of Ray, of her friends, and her father's disappointment. She couldn't allow herself to become a pawn in this game. "You'll regret this, Ethan! I won't let you manipulate me!" she declared, even as the car sped away.

In that moment of defiance, the spark of hope ignited within her. She didn't know how she would escape, but she knew she wouldn't give up. Mia was more than just a debt or a pawn; she was a fighter.

As the city became a blur outside the window, a plan started to form in her mind. Perhaps, with Ray's help, she could turn the tables. She was going to reclaim her life, no matter what it took.

This weekend was far from over; it was just the beginning of a much bigger battle. And Mia was determined to fight for her freedom, for her future. Little did Ethan know, he had underestimated her strength.

The sun set outside, marking the end of the day, but for Mia, it was the dawn of a new resolve.
