Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 "I'm going to kill you, Lukas!"

"AAAAHHH!"

Where are we falling!? I'm sure we've been like this for a few minutes and we still haven't arrived wherever they sent us

"Lukas, if I survive this, I'm going to kill you!"

"What are you talking about? I'm a victim too!"

After what seemed like an eternity, we could see a large city with a castle in the middle. W-wait, we're not slowing down!

"Prepare for impact!"

"What!? I don't have arms!"

Oh shit, it's true, we don't even look human!

Suddenly, Hernesto moved away, heading in the opposite direction from me. I barely had time to worry before I "crashed" into the roof of a house. Although "crashed" is too strong a word, since I went right through it, as if it weren't there.

Everything around me went completely dark. I had to make a huge effort to open my eyes. Only to find a woman hugging me, her face stained with tears.

----Perspective ******----

Why...? Why did this have to happen to him? No matter how hard I try, this always ends up happening.

In my arms I held the small body of my son who, like his brothers, had been born lifeless. I am cursed, this filthy body is cursed.

Why won't they let me fulfill his wish? This has been his only wish, and yet I am unable to fulfill it. Please, don't take my son away from me, don't take my children away from me.

"Selira!"

Ah! W-why did you come in? Don't look at me... I don't want you to see me. At the door is Tharion, my husband and the person who rescued me from the hell I was living in.

"T-Tharion... Can you leave...?"

"Ah..."

His face... once again shows that deep sadness that I have seen several times before. I don't want to see it, but no matter how hard I try, the times I see it only increase. No matter how hard I try to take care of myself, this dirty body of mine is cursed! Cursed with the inability to give a child to the person who gave me everything!

He's getting closer. Please, go away, I don't want you to touch me.

Unconsciously, I hugged my lifeless son tightly to my chest, while covering my face from my husband's gaze.

"Tharion... it's best we give her time."

"No, Serenna, I must stay with her."

Don't say that. I hate those words more than I hate myself. I hate your false calmness. Do you think I wouldn't recognize your pain even after being with you for so long?

My husband has always been known for his calmness and kindness. Although his body always commanded respect, behind that I found the kindest person I have ever known. He pulled me out of the hell I was living in, took care of me without expecting anything and without receiving anything in return. Now, after so many years, I had the opportunity to repay him for all his help, and yet my body won't allow me to make him happy.

As I sank into my thoughts, ignoring the words of my husband and his sister, I could feel a small movement in my son. With what little hope I had left, I moved him away a little, just enough to see his face, and I saw him. Although he seemed to be struggling, he opened his little eyes and squirmed in my arms, wanting to escape.

"Ah...!"

Tears fell down my face. My son was still alive! I wasted no time and used all my mana in healing magic, repeating the same process I had done with his siblings.

I can't let him go, I want him to stay here. Please help me fulfill my selfish wish, HIS wish.

My mana was depleted in an instant, which, combined with the effort of childbirth, took away what little strength I had left. I could barely keep my eyes open before I heard a loud cry from the baby.

"If you stayed with me..."

I said softly to my son, smiling at him with what little strength I had left. I held him tightly before succumbing to exhaustion.

"Selira!"

----Hernesto's point of view----

Where the hell am I supposed to be going? For some reason, I separated from Lukas and took a completely different direction. Now I'm about to crash into the castle we saw earlier!

As if the brick wall didn't exist, I passed through it and went straight inside, moving against my will at great speed through the corridors.

Please slow down a little!

Instantly, I felt myself stop moving and, frightened, I opened my eyes. All around me were shiny things: white and gold furniture, a large window that illuminated everything around me, and... a woman holding me? Wait, now that I think about it, isn't she a little too big?

"Aurenne!"

With a loud bang, the door opened and an old man entered, who for some reason had more muscles than he should have. Damn it! Knock before you enter, you gave me a huge scare!

"My lord, you mustn't come in like that. You might make the baby cry."

"I'm sorry, but suddenly everything went quiet!"

"Don't worry, Dad, I'm fine. And so is your grandson."

Who are you calling grandson? Me? Oh, so that's why—I'm a baby!

"I-I can carry him?"

"Of course, Dad."

Following his words, the woman lifted me up and offered me to the old man. W-Wait! Don't lift me up like that, I might fall!

Luckily, the old man knew how to pick up a baby and I didn't fall, but it's still uncomfortable lying on this guy's arm. Now that I'm further away, I can see the woman who was holding me before more clearly. She's incredibly beautiful, her golden hair looks so soft that I unconsciously reach out my hand.

"Look, he's looking for his mother."

This old man doesn't suit a sweet tone of voice, it makes him look bad. Even so, she's my mother, huh? If so, this guy is my grandfather, and the brown-haired woman in the maid's uniform is just that, a maid...

Damn it, Lukas, what trouble did you get me into? I was just eating ice cream while watching TV, and out of nowhere I turned into a ball of light, entering a portal that appeared on the floor of my house. I don't know where he is, but as soon as I find him, I'm going to beat him to death.

After a while, the old man returned me to the woman, who held me before falling asleep. Great, now my 'mother' is asleep with me by her side. Doesn't she know it's dangerous to fall asleep with a baby next to her.
