Chapter 22 - 22: The Set Piece Goal Guarantee Card!

On the pitch!

The moment Kai received the ball—

Full vision activated!

He once again unleashed a jaw-dropping no-look long pass!

Pirlo's "Cruise Missile" module!

A maxed-out long pass stat.

Combined with the Pirlo module.

The ball traced a beautiful arc through the air.

Soaring toward the left wing of the forward area!

And at the drop point—

was Vaughn!

After some time building chemistry with Kai,

the once-brilliant striker had gradually regained his trademark "goal sense."

This long pass from Kai—

caught everyone off guard!

Leeds United's defense shifted quickly,

but they'd just compressed toward Klein's side.

And right at that moment, Kai opened up his vision and launched a long pass toward the weaker side of Leeds' defense!

On the sidelines, Bielsa was stunned!

This kid's vision—is it really this terrifying?

The accuracy of that pass looked hacked—it's like it chased the target!

No matter how fast Leeds could shift their formation—

they couldn't react in time to such a lightning-fast switch of play!

"Run! Run!"

Bielsa, breaking character, flailed wildly at the sidelines, signaling Leeds players to fall back into position!

Not far away, Holloway threw his arms in the air with excitement!

Kai's long pass through the night sky once again ignited the away stand filled with Crystal Palace supporters!

"What an imaginative pass!"

In Leeds' half!

Vaughn received Kai's pass—

dribbling forward with pace!

Leeds' defense recovered quickly,

and their defensive positioning was top-tier.

Kai, with sharp game sense, sprinted from midfield into the attacking zone.

He arrived on Vaughn's flank, ready to offer support.

"BEEP!"

Suddenly—

The referee's whistle blew!

Leeds had dropped back into position fast—

Vaughn was swept to the ground by a slide tackle!

Yellow card!

The referee didn't hesitate, flashing the yellow card!

The away fans erupted into boos!

Meanwhile, Leeds fans let out a collective sigh of relief.

"That was close! That long pass was just too sudden—good thing Claude made the bold slide tackle. Otherwise, the consequences would've been disastrous!"

Leeds' assistant coach was shaken, fear lingering on his face.

Bielsa frowned, clearly displeased.

His prized high-press system had suppressed the opposition for nearly thirty minutes—

only to be shattered by a single long pass?!

But after a brief moment of self-doubt, Bielsa quickly shook his head.

"Passes like that—too much of a fluke. Nothing to dwell on."

As a coach who had managed Argentina and Chile's national teams, Bielsa was a world-class tactician.

And all world-class coaches—have their pride and stubbornness.

Leeds' assistant coach spoke up, a little worried:

"Crystal Palace now has a really favorable set-piece opportunity..."

Bielsa stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"What's there to worry about? They've got no free-kick specialists in their squad.

And we've drilled our set-piece defense thoroughly—every potential risk has been accounted for!"

On the pitch!

A loud and constant roar buzzed through Elland Road!

Both teams gathered near the edge of the box.

Leeds players were marking tightly.

They locked down positions with precision.

Compared to Leeds' tall defenders,

Crystal Palace's players looked a bit short.

At about forty yards from goal,

a few Palace players stood around the ball.

Before Kai joined,

the team's set pieces were usually taken by another midfielder—Galvan.

But with unspoken understanding,

Galvan gave up the free-kick duties without hesitation.

Now standing beside Kai,

he shared his past experience taking these kicks.

"At this range, Kai, you could try lofting it into the box—

but Leeds players are too tall!"

"Any aerial duel will be pure luck."

On the sidelines, Millen shook his head.

Holloway sighed,

"Most teams drill set-piece tactics,

but our players just don't have the height for it...

If only we had a set-piece master! Someone like Juninho or Beckham—who could score directly from a free kick..."

Millen gave a bitter smile.

"If our little backwater club actually produced a Beckham,

the Premier League giants would've poached him ages ago!"

On the pitch!

All 40,000 fans' eyes locked onto the figure with black hair, standing forty yards out from goal!

That distance—

was far.

Leeds' players had formed a wall at the edge of the box.

Kai stood behind the ball, eyes scanning the box.

"Kai, your technique is great. Just loft it in.

I'm not tall, but I'll do my best to contest the header!"

Vaughn waved to Kai.

But unexpectedly—

Kai shook his head slightly.

"No… I'm going to shoot directly."

Galvan, next to him, jumped in shock!

Shoot? Directly?!

From forty yards out?!

Galvan was still frozen—

"BEEP!"

Right then—

the referee blew the whistle for the kick to be taken!

Kai's eyes sharpened!

He looked toward his "Arsenal."
