Chapter 7 - Introduction

"Today, I will tell you about the basics of being a Cardweaver. So what is a cardweaver, or what is card? There are many theories out there; maybe you have heard some, and you will learn some as we make progress in class. But for now, you need to know that card weaving is a gift that awakens in very few people. A marvel of nature and soul that only a few can experience.

"After awakening as a Cardweaver, you can form an arcane core, which can store arcane energy for you. Arcane energy is a marvel in itself, which we will talk about some other day. So, after forming your arcane core, you can feel arcane energy and store it. Your arcane energy is quantified in terms of arcane points, and it is limited to the level of novice.

"After forming your core, you can summon your own deck. As a novice, you can summon a deck of 15 cards, and you get 15 arcane points to use it. As you grow in rank, your pool of cards and energy will as well."

"Your deck will comprise 10 Common, 3 Uncommon, 1 Item, and 1 Bloodline or Unique card, and as you grow in rank, you will get more classifications of cards."

"But all your cards won't be similar; you will get different types of cards. There are 6 types of cards."

Skill cards, which can perform a particular actions like attacks or defenses

Arcane Bolt (2 AP): Fires a quick energy blast for one hit.Ethereal Shield (2 AP): Blocks one incoming attack.

Enhance cards, which can enhance your next action or current capabilities

Flash (3 AP): Enhance your speed for next 2 turnsIron Ward (3 AP): Next attack you take deals half damage

Debuff cards, which hinder an opponent's abilities or resources.

Shadow Bind (3 AP): Prevents opponent from playing skills for one turn.Energy Siphon (4 AP): Drains 2 AP from opponent's pool.

Trap cards that can counter or disrupt enemy moves.

Counter Trap (3 AP): Cancels an opponent's card effect.Mirror Snare (4 AP): Reflects a skill card's effect back at the user.

Item cards, which consist of ****weapons/tools with unique effects (at least one per deck).

Crystal Bow (3 AP): Deals one hit and lets you peek at the opponent's hand.Void Amulet (4 AP): Blocks one debuff and restores 2 AP, single-use per duel.

There is also a special kind known as bloodline cards, which comes in the unique cards category. They only manifest in a few special descendants of some ancient noble houses. The nobles are nobles because they are special; never underestimate one. Many people only saw some freeloading fools and think all nobles are like this. But always be careful around them."

Clayton smirked as he saw Professor Reese was about to introduce his personal opinion. In the novel, while he preached equality, he was more inclined towards the royalty faction.

"So, back on topic, every card has a fixed cost of Arcane points; use them carelessly, and you will be drained in no time. You generate 1 AP per turn, so you always have to calculate AP in your battle and use it wisely."

Remember the golden rule: Its not about playing the strongest card; its about playing the right card

"Our whole world is tied to card weaving. From our economy to politics, everything is related to cards. You may be a freeloader, someone who is failing his exams, or someone who is too scared to fight. But just 1 card is enough to make you a big shot. So, think what a deck can do. Just through basic use of the deck, you can live a life of comfort."

"But that's where it is wrong; card weaving is as much a curse as a gift. Drop your guard and you get tainted by the void, and your life changes. So, that's why it is necessary for every Cardweaver to attend an academy. Rogue cardweavers are also a danger to the society."

"So, that's it for today. We will meet in our next class, and anyone who wants a duel, register your name at the duel office." Professor Reese said as his sharp eyes met mine.

Clayton listened to all of the class seriously to confirm his memory, as he was still a bit confused. But the class made him sure of everything, and he started thinking of how to beat that wannabe protagonist. As for the dual registration the person who issued it usually register
