“I’m sorry, Commander, but this is sheer madness. I can’t stress it enough.”
Clad in his black armor, Vlad halted his movements abruptly. Holding a helmet that resembled an eagle, he turned toward the entrance of the tent just as Ivan burst in unceremoniously. Johanna trailed behind, awkwardly holding onto the priest in an attempt to restrain him.
Johanna straightened up and saluted. “Pardon the intrusion, Commander! Father Ivan is at it again, and I—”
Vlad cut her off. “What’s your take on this, Johanna?”
Suddenly put on the spot, Johanna glanced nervously between the two men. Finally, she locked eyes with Vlad. “As I mentioned in the meeting, it is a feasible plan.”
Ivan’s face contorted in frustration. Johanna resolutely ignored him.
“We still haven’t recovered the gunpowder left from the failed transport in the southwestern canyon,” she continued. “There’s still plenty left, and the explosion has weakened the ground there. It’s more than sufficient for the lure operation.”
