Chapter 4
Marital Dispute
Liliette woke up screaming in the dead of night once again. Her face was drenched with cold sweat and tears as she fumbled her way across the bed, her trembling hand searching for the bedside lamp. After several attempts, she finally managed to switch it on. The soft, golden light flooded the room, allowing her to breathe again. This always happened when she slept alone. How pathetic, she thought, that she couldn’t even sleep properly without her husband. Even she had to admit that she was little more than a delicate, overly dependent ornament in his collection.
“His collection…” she muttered to herself.
