Chapter 3
Adulthood
“I need to visit the estate on my own for a bit. Please take care of Alexander, Vlad.”
An infant’s spoon clattered onto the table. Alexander looked up, puzzled, tilting his head. His wide gray eyes reflected his father’s shocked face. Vlad, who had been feeding him breakfast, froze in place.
It was early morning, and Vlad hadn’t yet managed to fix his hair or change clothes. His locks, as dark as midnight, were tousled, and he was still in his indoor wear: a simple shirt and pants.
Liliette rubbed her eyes as she sat on the edge of the bed. Her silver hair, as fine as silk, cascaded around her, framing her figure wrapped in a translucent chemise. She let out a soft chuckle as she lowered her hands.
“Alexander, you shouldn’t bite your father’s finger like that.”
