“Wait a moment.”
At Ingrid’s firm voice, Liliette came to an abrupt halt beside her. The sound of their footsteps echoed through the central hallway of the Imperial Palace like whispers of a bygone era. Ivan, who had been following at a respectful distance, also stopped.
Ingrid let out a deep sigh. “Would it be so terrible to delay the audience for a few days? You barely slept last night.”
“I apologize, Your Highness, but the sooner I act, the sooner I can return home,” said Liliette, offering an apologetic smile. Her complexion was pale, and her lips were almost blue.
Ingrid glanced at her with a touch of annoyance. “Yes, I haven’t ascended the throne yet, and the longer you stay here, the more likely we are to face another incident like yesterday. Once that crown is on my head, I’ll make sure those turtle-headed fools are skinned alive…”
