The meeting had been dismissed.
I watched Aurora leave, that man trailing behind her like a loyal puppy.
Yeah, sure, I'm happy she's found someone from her own kind — a wizard, no less. They can be together for all I care. But there's just something about him that reeks.
The way Aurora suddenly let him into her life overnight — it's not like her. She doesn't just open up to anyone. I know how long it took before we even became friends. How long it took before I could so much as touch her bare skin without her flinching.
But him? He made it look easy.
Or maybe it's because they share the same bloodline. Witch and wizard. Same magic, same species — though, that shouldn't matter. It shouldn't make her trust him that fast.
I tried to shake off the thought. "Whatever," I muttered under my breath. "Let her be."
