Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Welcome To The Titans

Current Phase- 1

Registry 0#, Version 0#, Channel 0#, Contestant 0# - Entry 1#

Location: Verse: DC, Universe: Earth-2003, Planet: Earth, Continent: North America, Country: USA, City: Jump City, Titan Island, Titans Tower

Date: Year- 2003, Month- July, Day- 23, Weekday- Friday, Time: 9:34(9 A.M.)

On an island at the bay of Jump City, the T-structured building could be found standing tall, and in this place carrying a futuristic and tech-filled environment where various rooms could be found, 5 of them were special.

Each door had stickers, relating to its inhabitant, and at the top center, a circle containing a logo with their face.

Inside one of these rooms, white walls with wooden outlines could be found, as a young man with black hair stood in an organized place.

A made bed, everything had a place and a way to be, all leading to the schematics table in front of him, the bit of chaos in this ordered paradise of his creation.

A map with bullet points, marked locations, pinned connections, and images, for anyone who didn't know him, it would look like a conspiracy board, and in many ways it was.

But the boy clad in black, green, yellow, white, and red did not mind.

Wearing his signature black boots coated with steel at the tip ends, right above his green elastic pants durable and flexible enough for his acrobatic movement, not to forget his yellow utility belt a habit grown into him by his mentor, and one he seems to appreciate, with his red shirt with the three yellow stripes at the end of his collar, and next to the black circle on the left of his chest, containing a yellow R.

Coming from his collar was his cape, back on the outer side, and yellow on the inner side, followed by his sleeves, green just like his pants, and complimenting his forearm-length green gloves.

Finally there it was, the last detail, his mask, or more his eye cover, being white with black outlines and blocking out his face just enough for the mystique.

"Hmmm… I see. So he is coming. That guy... I want to say no, but that incident with Cinderblock just shows the team might need the help. I just hope he's not more trouble than he's worth. End recording. File-$@$&)(&)&." Holding a recorder in his hand, he pressed the button to stop it, before sighing and turning to his computer.

There he filed the recording away after connecting it, and once that was set, he opened his own version of Zigrit's file looking over it.

"This is going to be a long summer..." He commented it was the 14th time checking it now since Batman informed him of the help he sent, and he could not find himself taking it lightly.

At the same time, far deeper into Jump City, in Amora Street, a low-status area of the city, a young man could be seen walking through it.

He had messy medium pink hair with a white underside, pink eyes, soft but sharp facial features giving him an effeminate edge even though he was clearly a young man, smooth dark skin, and a lean muscular physique.

Then there was his wardrobe, and he could be found wearing black boots, under a pair of baggy white pants, with a black long-sleeved compression shirt right above, and finally a black long coat to top it all off.

Even though he was not calling attention to himself with his attitude at all, it was hard not to stand out with such a unique look.

This attention came from thugs, who were in the streets, standing around littering every other corner.

"Would you look at that? One of those colored hair freaks… Easy bait." One in a group of three seeing him pass, commented.

"Oh, come on, man! I told you to stop talking like that, it's not cool." The second thug replied rolling his eyes.

"He's got a point, but who cares, easy money is easy money." The third one added.

"Urgh! You two are no fun at all! I was joking, even if it's true, ahem! Anyway, let's get to it!" The first one walked off before the others could answer.

"This guy…" The second followed, and the third as well.

They quickly surrounded the pink-haired boy and sized him up further.

There was a solid 5 seconds of silence before the boy smiled to himself and said. "Sirs! I need help! It's my first job here, and I really can't find this burned-down church…"

This caused the three thugs to smile.

"That so? No worries boy, we are all fam out here. Though you got to tell us what you're on, there somethings we don't let pass even here." The first one responded with his arms crossed.

"Yeah, and we need the numbers, how much are we talking?!" The third one added.

"If you speak up, we'll take you there." The second one spoke.

"Well… I'm not supposed to tell, especially when we're dealing with high amounts like this one. I'm not a snitch." The boy shook his head.

"Hah! A real one, come here, we understand. We'll take you there, and you know what? Let's help the kid get this job done!" The first one put his arm over his shoulder and started pulling the boy in and taking him there.

"Don't worry, we've dealt with a crime boss or two, here. Leny even worked for the crazy clown boss of crime himself! We know our stuff." The third one said pointing at the second.

"Yeah… It was an experience, but this place ain't no Gotham, super soft even at its worst." The second one responded speaking of a known terrible city with pride.

"Wow! Really?! The Joker? You must be a super tough guy then." The boy seemed enthusiastic.

"That he is, now you really got show us what we're working with here." The first one continued.

While the third one followed, but the second raised an eyebrow, that was not the reaction to the Joker a non-gothimite teen would have… Something wasn't right.

"Hmmm... Maybe we should just let the kid have it, and go about our way." Leny suggested as the thoughts crossed his mind.

"What are you on?! We agreed to help! So we help!" The first one glared at him.

"Yeah, the kid says it's big time!" The third one reminded him.

"Yeah, it's 1 mil-… Oops! Mean it's high-end! High end! Hahaha!" The boy laughed nervously at the careless mistake.

"Hahahaha! You're going to kill me, boy!" The first one hit him on the back.

"It's ok! We all make mistakes." The third one said, licking his licks.

"… Truly we're in luck today." Shaking his senses, Leny goes along.

In time, they reach the place, a rather big cathedral in stone, decorated with colored glass windows, gargoyles, and other symbols.

Inside the burning marks were more evident everywhere, like the place was completely scorched inside out.

Various melted parts, and ash all over, coupled with an ashy smell with a smokey undertone.

In the main prayer hall only a few chunks of charred wood could the found between the walls, the rest was ash, and a broken statue, most it is missing.

"Whatever fire took on here, it was insane. I've seen burnt buildings before but this place got incinerated." Leny commented as he grabbed a piece of fully charred wood.

"What are you even on about? Whatever… Look at this… What kind of statue is this? Don't look like any church I know…" The first one said as he looked at the broken idol.

"Cough! Cough!… Cough! Cough!… So much ash!…. Let's get the money and… Cough! Cough! Bounce! This place is creepy as all hell. Where's the Cough!… Kid?" The third one said covering his nose as the coughing would not stop.

"He went downstairs… Let's go get him. We're not leaving empty-handed." The first one nodded and they went after him.

Leny could only sigh and go along.

Downstairs, it was as dark as the sunlight could hardly reach in through the cracks that had formed over years of the damage done that day setting in.

The further they advanced the darker it became, until it was just darkness for a while, and yet, they persisted and kept walking deeper into it, and then it happened.

Light at the end of the tunnel, deeper in there was a source of it.

So they stopped to look at it, and there he stood with a glowing orb in his hand, and his back turned to them.

"You know, this was the only time he tried to protect me. Funny…" The boy commented but his time was serious and there was not a giggle in sight. "Come closer and see it." He urges.

There was something about his tone this time, it wasn't the polite cheerfulness that they planned to use before.

The steps almost happened subconsciously, and before they knew it, they were next to him, and there it was the burned silhouette of what seemed to be a man on the only wall that had no ash or burns on it besides that one.

"I was planning on killing you all for targeting me, but you three ruined the mood." The boy said with a sober expression.

"What are you even on about?! You're in a creepy place and you think you're hot sh-" A singular well-placed high roundhouse kick to the face, and the first was out for the count before he could finish talking.

"It's not so easy ki-" The third one was pulled into a throw and slammed out of consciousness.

"Tch! I knew some crap was up! What are you?! If I didn't know better I'd think you're Robin! But he's white, and you're not… Plus that criminal hair…" Leny commented as he sighed not even trying to attack.

"And I thought Gotham thugs always attack, we're both disappointed, it seems." The boy shrugged.

"Ha! We always attack in Gotham, if you don't try to fight out there, your chances of getting your ass whooped are 100%, but if you at least try, you might get lucky and get one of the rare wins on the freaks out there. Then you pretend you weren't there later, and let a naive newbie take the credit and the consequences, that's how we all learn." Leny explained.

"Fair… enough. Take your friends out of here. I got what I wanted." The pink-haired boy left, without waiting for anymore.

"Huh? That's new… Appreciate it, kid!" Leny said right before he left.

Once he reached the entrance of the church again, he turned to look at it again.

"This is where it all started, and now. It's time I start living my own life a little. I can't fully escape the situation I ended in right now, and being a hero doesn't sound too bad, I'm in the DC verse after all… I don't know which earth though, whatever the case, I will be my person from now on, I will build the legacy of Zigrit Roth Omnis." He nodded to himself and turned around. "To the Titans then, after everything the Bat did for me, might as well listen to him this last time… Then I will make the world my playground!"

As he did, something happened.

A floating screen opened in front of him.

[Grand Ambition detected!]

[All the requirements for the Waifu Catalog System have been met.]

[Initiating the system]

[Heritage integration verified… No errors were found. Current State: 22 dormant heritages. Energy circulation and emission unstable.]

[Welcome to the system, User. The Waifu Catalog System is a system integrated into everything and has the sole goal of overseeing you on your path to victory.

To such effect, it has a selection of perks of various types that you can acquire through diverse means, completing quests, buying them, and or advancing your awakening of at least one of your various heritages.

To buy perks, you require credits, which can be earned through the capture and selling of named characters of any significant power or relevance.

Before you can sell them, you must capture them, and such is done through the use of a binding, which is a capture perk, but you currently have none.] A feminine mechanical voice resounded in his head.

(So… Slavery? I'm not interested in that… Unless… what if I only target trash like Mordru?… That would be a good way to get rid of him.) Zigrit thought to himself a vicious smile appeared on his face.

[It is possible. However, you must first acquire a binding perk, which can be gained through the previously mentioned methods. You currently have no credits.

Though, you have access to a beginner pack, would you like to open it?]

(Yes…) He nodded.

[You have gained the lure: Faerie Feast]

[Faerie Feast: The User's cooking is supernaturally good, capable of making miracles from the worst ingredients. Just one taste is enough to hook a waifu for life - assuming, of course, that she can taste. Even if she doesn't like you, she'll be unable to imagine a world where she can't eat your cooking every day, and stay with you for that alone. Over time, The User can leverage this dependence into obedience through simple operant conditioning and, in turn, create real affection by enforcing faked affection.

The quality of the User's ingredients doesn't matter, but they must be real ingredients. This lure will not let you cook without the proper tools unless you have an adequate substitute. This lure also covers drink-mixing, butchery, and chemical food processing, but does not help with gardening, farming, animal husbandry, fishing, etc. - that's biology, not chemistry. If you want to use this lure's gifts as a professional skill, you can dial your ability down to world-class-chef levels, enough to ensure great business (and plenty of repeat customers) without tripping any "this food might be addictive" alarms.

This lure cannot affect targets who lack a sense of taste.]

(So… I'm a good cook… now?… quite dangerous sounding. Ok, is this it?) Zigrit asked.

[Negative. Currently, you have access to a status screen function, and challenges imposed on you.]

(What kind of challenges?) He questioned.

[1. You must progress your abilities and powers naturally, they will not be at their pinnacle from the get-go.

2. You cannot capture targets before at least making them unconscious, and your binding will require 3 seconds to take effect.

3. An enemy was specifically trained to defeat you.

4. The enemy trained to defeat you has access to your information.

5. You must defeat the trained enemy within a time limit when the time comes.

6. Another individual was given the same blessings as you, and you will have to overcome them, they are your rival. Unrelated to the trained enemy.

7. Eventually a kaiju from the outer dimension will come for you.]

(…. THIS SOUNDS UNFAIR…) He complained in his mind.

[There is no changing this. You must be ready, would you like to look at your status screen?]

(… These challenges will have me killed… Yes, show me.) Zigrit was having a headache still processing the challenges.

(… Level 125… Isn't that too high?) He asked.

[Negative. In the current world, that is not the case.]

(If that's the case, why not readjust?) Zigrit wondered.

[It is possible, but the current system is accounted for in everything possible world. Readjusting would mean different values and standards for every world.]

(… Stick to it. I guess this will help me ass which worlds are more dangerous… That's good.) He nodded to himself as he finally began moving again.

It took some time, but he found himself at the door of the Titans Tower, looking at the structure before him, a sigh escaped his mouth.

"You can do this… It's just Robin… and The Titans…" Taking a deep breath, he shook his face, then pressed the bell.

Doing so caused his heart to sink, and he just stood there, waiting for the moment to end.

It didn't take too long before Robin came out, and said. "Zigrit, you're here... You arrived earlier than expected, anyhow, it's a pleasure to have to our. Welcome to the Titans."

Despite his words, there was a bit of stiffness in how Robin was moving, a clear sign of discomfort.

"…Thanks…" Zigrit noticed this and forced a smile before shaking his hand.

This in turn was noticed by Robin, and then they just stood there shaking hands a little too long before Boywonder pulled back and said.

"Ahem! Anyway, come in, and meet the team, you're going to be a titan, we have a lot to discuss, especially after the last mission, but we'll talk more about that later. For now, the team." Robin made way for him to enter.

Taking this step, Zigrit followed him inside ready to face a whole new world ahead of him, after all, there was a lot more at stake in the grand scheme of things, still the little things never stopped being what they always were.

"This will be one hell of a journey…" He said to himself as he kept following.

The larger world had a lot prepared for him, and he would need to be prepared to overcome it all.
