Merisa let out a slow, controlled sigh.
It wasn't loud, yet it felt heavier than thunder as she saw.. Razeal's resentful gaze as how he was looking at her.. with that sharp, distant, stripped of warmth so completely that it cut deeper than any blade ever could. That look alone was enough to make something tighten painfully inside her chest. She had faced wars that shattered Kingdoms, Portals, stood against beings who could even erase continents, yet this… this quiet hatred in her son's eyes unsettled her in a way nothing else ever had.
I don't want to do this, she thought, her fingers curling ever so slightly. But this is the only way left.
She thought as a figurative stone settled against her heart, heavy and cold. If she hesitated now, if she stepped back again, things would only rot further. She knew that much with painful clarity now.
She had thought long and hard before coming to the decision she had finally made. It hadn't been easy for her.. far from it.
