Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9: HERETIC FLAME

"The world forgave the fire… but some still live in the smoke."

---

Scene: The Dream Realm – A Throne of Smoke and Silence

Lucen stands alone. Wind howls with voices. Again, the obsidian glass beneath his feet.

But tonight, there is no dreamscape.

There is only a throne.

Atop it—Morpheus, now clearly visible. Robes of night. Eyes like eclipses. His face shifts—old, young, male, female. A dream that cannot be pinned down.

> Morpheus:

"Sit. You've earned answers."

Lucen doesn't move.

> Lucen:

"Say what you came to say."

> Morpheus:

"You are not human. Not truly. You are not born of Earth's womb. You are forged of betrayal itself. The eighth and unwanted son of the Fallen King—cast not from love, but chaos."

Lucen's fists tighten.

> Lucen:

"Then why was I found under snow? In a ruined temple?"

Morpheus:

"Because even Hell feared you."

Morpheus walks toward him, slow.

> Morpheus:

"You were not meant to exist. But you do. And you burn with a fire that sings both destruction and redemption. You are the Sinless Sin. A contradiction. A threat."

Lucen lowers his gaze.

> Lucen:

"I've killed. Burned. And still I try to save. What am I supposed to do?"

Morpheus (firm, dark):

"Remember."

He taps Lucen's forehead.

Suddenly—

FLASHBACK: HELL – THE THRONE OF SATAN

A red, endless void. Seven figures in thrones—Lucen's devil brothers. Each monstrous, powerful, alien.

And one cradle made of bones and ice.

A child… with golden eyes and crying.

> Demonic Voice (offscreen):

"He's not one of us. He brings balance where there should be chaos."

> Another:

"Kill it."

Satan (from shadows):

"No. Cast it out."

Lucen sees it. Himself—cast from Hell before he could walk.

---

Back to Dream Realm

Lucen stumbles back.

> Lucen:

"So I'm a mistake."

Morpheus:

"No. You are a correction. You were never meant to follow the rules of either side. That's why both fear you."

Lucen breathes slowly. Then says:

> Lucen:

"Then I'll carve my own side. One life at a time."

Morpheus smiles. Almost proud.

---

Scene: Real World – City Streets (Night)

A firetruck blares past. Sirens.

Lucen—hooded—jumps to the rooftops. Watching.

Below, a building still smolders.

Police tape flutters.

He's late.

Aria shows up, furious.

> Aria:

"You said you'd keep an eye on the west block."

Lucen:

"I did. I missed this one."

> Aria (holding a photo):

"He calls himself Scarne now. Face half-burned. Used to be a student. Lost his entire family the night you… you know."

Lucen freezes.

> Lucen:

"That night…"

Aria:

"Yeah. Your night. Now he's copying you. Setting fires. Sending messages in ash."

Lucen stares into the flames below. The guilt grips his lungs like chains.

---

Scene: Scarne's Hideout

A man stands shirtless. His back is a twisted map of burn scars. The skin warped.

He welds a crude flamethrower. His eyes glow red—but not supernatural. Driven by hate.

News footage of Lucen plays on loop.

> Scarne (monologuing):

"They forgave you. You burned my mother. My sisters. You cried on TV and they forgot. But I never forgot."

He slams a photo of Lucen onto the wall.

> "You were born in fire. I died in it. So I'm taking it back."

He walks into his warehouse—full of gas tanks. bombs. stolen weapons.

---

Scene: End – Lucen Back at Home

He stands shirtless. Looks at his own back in the mirror. The old scars from his explosion. Still there. Faint.

> Lucen (to himself):

"I made him. Now I have to stop him."

He pulls open a drawer. Inside: a black mask stitched with gold thread. A hybrid of monk design and demon runes.

> Lucen (soft):

"No more dreams. Time to face the waking flame."
