Dugu Bo's residence was not located in the core area of Heaven Dou City, but in the outer city. It wasn't very far from Shrek Academy either.
In less than an hour, Grandmaster and Tang San arrived at the entrance of Dugu Bo's estate.
The gate looked ordinary—there was no plaque above it, and the two large doors were tightly shut.
"Is no one home?" Tang San asked.
Grandmaster replied, "When I came to look for you last time, I came here once. Dugu Bo doesn't keep many servants, so the gate is usually closed."
As he spoke, he stepped forward, grabbed the door knocker, and knocked.
Before long, footsteps sounded. The gate opened, and an elderly man walked out.
"It's you!" The old man recognized Grandmaster at a glance, his tone immediately turning unfriendly.
The last time Grandmaster, Flender, and Liu Erlong had barged straight into the estate searching for Tang San.
"This place doesn't welcome you," the old man said angrily as he moved to close the door.
Grandmaster quickly stepped forward and said gently, "Sir, I apologize for what happened last time. I mean no harm today—I have something I wish to discuss with Senior Dugu. Please help pass on a message, saying that Grandmaster of Shrek Academy and Tang San are here to visit."
The old man snorted, shut the door, and hurried away, his footsteps quickly fading.
"Teacher, will he notify Dugu Bo?" Tang San asked.
"He should," Grandmaster said. "That old man is Dugu Bo's steward. If he doesn't, we'll shout from outside—Dugu Bo will definitely hear us."
The steward quickly arrived outside Dugu Bo's room. He hesitated briefly, then called out,
"Master, there are two visitors outside, claiming to be Grandmaster of Shrek Academy and Tang San."
The moment he finished speaking, his head began to spin violently. Frightened, he hurried away from the small courtyard. As he glanced back at Dugu Bo's room, fear filled his eyes.
The doors and windows of the room were tightly shut. Inside, it was gloomy and sinister. In the open space at the center of the room, a massive mass of dark green poisonous mist rolled and churned. Though it surged continuously, it strangely refused to disperse.
Looking closely, one could see that the ground around the mist had been corroded into countless holes, with wisps of white smoke rising from them.
A pungent stench filled the room. If an ordinary soul master were to enter, they would likely be poisoned to death instantly.
After the steward's voice sounded, the poisonous mist began to contract, gradually revealing a tall, seated humanoid figure.
As the mist vanished, thick, dark-green liquid flowed over the figure's body before being absorbed back into it.
Dugu Bo's form was revealed.
He was completely naked—more accurately, all his clothing had been corroded by the poison.
Beneath him sat a tattered meditation cushion.
"Grandmaster… Tang San?" Dugu Bo muttered, a cold light suddenly flashing in his eyes.
"I haven't even gone looking for you yet, and you dare come to me first. Perfect—today I'll settle accounts with you."
Dugu Bo sneered as he stood up and quickly put on new clothes.
He had just been refining the pill Ao Tian had given him, and his cultivation was rapidly increasing.
The medicinal effect of the pill wasn't violent and required gradual refinement, allowing him to stop at any time.
Even if he didn't actively refine it, the pill would still be slowly absorbed by his body—just at a slower pace.
In only a few days since returning, his cultivation had already broken through from Level 94 to Level 97. This filled him with intense excitement and made him even more respectful toward Ao Tian.
Dugu Bo pushed open the door and walked out.
The steward hurried over and said, "Master, they're still waiting outside. That Grandmaster even barged into the estate last time—should I drive them away?"
"No need," Dugu Bo said. "Bring them in. Take them to the reception hall."
"Yes." The steward jogged toward the gate.
At the entrance, Grandmaster and Tang San once again heard footsteps approaching.
"Xiao San," Grandmaster reminded him softly, "once we're inside, don't call him by name, and don't call him Old Poison. Understand?"
"I understand," Tang San nodded.
The gate opened. The steward said expressionlessly, "You may enter."
Grandmaster felt relieved. "Thank you, sir."
"Come, Xiao San. Let's go in."
They followed the steward into the estate and headed toward the reception hall.
Upon entering, they saw Dugu Bo seated at the head position.
"Senior Dugu," Grandmaster and Tang San greeted simultaneously.
"Sit," Dugu Bo said indifferently.
They sat down, already accustomed to Dugu Bo's cold demeanor.
"I'll go make tea," the steward said.
"No need," Dugu Bo waved him off. "You may leave."
"Yes, Master." The steward exited the hall.
Grandmaster smiled and asked, "Senior Dugu, it's been a few days. How has your health been?"
Dugu Bo sneered. "My health is excellent. No need for your concern."
Both Grandmaster and Tang San felt something was off.
"Senior Dugu," Grandmaster said, "my disciple Tang San has fully recovered and can begin treating you now. When would you like to start?"
Dugu Bo stood up and walked toward them, sneering. "No need."
Grandmaster and Tang San stood up as well.
Tang San said urgently, "Senior Dugu, the poison in your body is already extremely severe. If treatment is delayed, even I won't be confident I can save you. And your granddaughter, Dugu Yan—"
Dugu Bo raised his hand, cutting him off. "My poison is none of your concern. You should worry about yourselves instead."
"What do you mean?" Tang San asked, confused.
But the moment he finished speaking, he felt a chill spread through his body. His strength drained away, and he collapsed limply to the ground.
Grandmaster suffered the same fate, falling beside Tang San.
Alarmed, Tang San shouted, "Senior Dugu, what are you doing?!"
"What am I doing?" Dugu Bo sneered. "Of course—settling accounts with you."
"Senior Dugu, there must be some misunderstanding!" Grandmaster said hurriedly.
"A misunderstanding?" Dugu Bo said coldly. "Then I'll explain everything clearly—so you can die knowing the truth."
Die knowing the truth?
Grandmaster and Tang San's hearts sank, panic surging within them.
From the sound of it, Dugu Bo intended to kill them.
Dugu Bo said, "Tang San, tell me again—why were you looking for Ao Tian?"
Tang San's heart skipped a beat. He vaguely understood why Dugu Bo was angry.
Dugu Bo had likely already learned the real reason they sought Ao Tian.
The immortal herbs were extremely important. Once Ao Tian seized them, even if they were taken back, there was no guarantee how many would remain.
Shrek had four students—Tang San, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun.
Worried the recovered herbs might not be enough, Tang San and Grandmaster had never told Dugu Bo about the immortal herbs in the first place.
Even if there were enough, they still wouldn't dare say it—Dugu Bo might demand all of them, leaving none behind.
Now that Dugu Bo had brought it up, dread filled their hearts.
Tang San forced himself to remain calm.
"Even if he knows we were after the immortal herbs, he probably doesn't know their true effects. There's still room to maneuver."
Thinking quickly, Tang San said,
"Senior Dugu, Ao Tian took some extremely important items from our academy. And among the medicinal herbs he took, many are especially effective in treating your condition. That's why we were so anxious."
