Liandria's body lay cold in my arms, and fear and anger collide ruthlessly inside me.
I stare at her still face and I feel my heart crack at the frightful thought of losing her.
"Your Majesty, we swear her food was checked. The food tasters are all well. Her food and water… Nothing was added to it." One of the guards says outside the cell, and I grit my teeth.
"Who was her last guest?" I demand, and he falls silent.
I look up at him and find him fidgeting.
"Who was her last guest!?" I rage, and he jerks.
"She asked to see Bram, Your Majesty. However, she was still awake when I came to check on her after he left. She was sitting in silence, staring at the wall." He replies, and I stare back at Liandria.
"Leave us," I order, and the men bow before quickly scurrying away.
I gently stroke her hair, and my heart pounds in fear.
