"I want a black coffee, and please hurry, I have a meeting," I said and hung up the phone.
I glanced at the computer screen while also checking some documents.
Robert Henrikson was one of the wealthiest and most renowned entrepreneurs in the city. He had been deeply involved in the field of economics for many years.
After a lot of effort, I had finally managed to bring him into my business.
Today, I needed as many investors as possible. With their support, my business would thrive.
Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door and told my secretary to come in.
She opened the door quietly, and without saying a word, gently placed the coffee on my desk.
"Is there anything else, Mr. Williams?" she asked softly, almost as if afraid to speak louder.
"No, you can leave, Claire. Thank you," I replied with a smile.
She looked at me for a moment, nodded, and left.
Most of my day was spent in meetings and interviews.
I rarely returned home early. There was always something to prepare—plans, schedules, documents.
I sipped my coffee calmly, almost finishing it, when Claire informed me that Henrikson and the others had arrived.
I stood up quietly, grabbed the necessary documents, and made my way to the meeting room.
When I entered, everyone was already seated. I walked up to Henrikson and greeted him with a friendly handshake. Then, I took my seat, and we began.
Luckily, the meeting had gone well, and Robert agreed to work with the company for a while to take control of the finances.
As I stepped out of the office, I heard my phone ring. I answered it.
"Hey, man... When are you finally done?" he asked.
Miguel was a good friend of mine, someone I had known for years. So, I didn't mind his casual tone.
"I'm almost done. Want to grab a drink?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. I'll see you at Johnny's," he said before hanging up.
I took the elevator and hurried downstairs. When I reached the last floor, I saw Claire at her desk, staring intently at something on her computer screen.
"Everything alright, Claire?" I asked.
She looked up, surprised.
"Yes, sir. I just need to finalize a few meetings for tomorrow," she replied.
"I'll let you continue. Goodnight," I said, and before she could answer, I was already out the door.
The weather was nice, I could say. I got into my car, started the engine, and as I drove, I called Miguel to let him know I'd be a little late because I needed to stop by my place.
When I arrived, I went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. Afterward, I put on a pair of black pants, a denim shirt, and headed out for Johnny's.
