The scorching thermal backdraft blasted against Nox's face as he dropped through the iron maintenance hatch into the roaring boiler belly of the locomotive.
"The core chamber temperature is passing twelve hundred degrees!" Chief Boros yelled from the upper catwalk, clutching an emergency coolant valve.
"Look at the crystalline containment housing," Yeda called down, pointing toward the pulsing crimson fractures spreading across the six-inch mana glass sphere.
"Holt wired a three-phase remote overload switch directly into the primary mana injection matrix," Jax shouted through the open hatch above.
"If you cut the wrong conduit, the entire core will undergo an instantaneous chain reaction and vaporize the valley," Boros warned in desperate terror.
"I will not cut the wrong conduit," Nox replied calmly, his eyes narrowing as he activated his Rank S appraisal skill.
