Chapter 4 - Legendary Class (Part 2)

WHOOSH!

Draco swiftly rolled to the side, evading the slithering Dragon that violently pounced at him.

Thankfully, he avoided the strike, and out of reflex, he thrust his spear towards the Dragon, his body already forgetting the System's notice to him mere moments ago.

'Crap!' By the time he realized his actions, it was already too late.

SPLOOSH!

The oily dark blood of the Dragon spurted out as Draco hit a lethal spot, causing the creature to scream and squirm for a few seconds before dying.

'What? I thought I couldn't… so why?'

Before he could think about the strange occurrence that happened, he heard a ding sound in his head, followed by a small panel that caused him to subconsciously smile.

[You Have Leveled Up!]

For someone like Draco, who was obsessed with strength, seeing that he had grown stronger—even if it was just a little bit—was enough to quench the restlessness in his heart, allowing him to think a lot more clearly.

'My Class! This is all because of my Class.' His eyes widened as he smacked his head, feeling like the idiot that he was.

'I should have checked it for more details.'

Even though Luke never encountered any Class like Dragon Tamer, he still had a modern concept of Classes from Earth. A Legendary Class was a big deal in games, and even on the Hunters & Dragons Forum, it was only mentioned one or two times.

'If I awakened a Legendary Class, that means it's very strong and unique.'

Player experience in the game varied from Player to Player, which meant it was very possible that no one had ever heard of or seen a Dragon Tamer Class before. It could also be the case that he simply didn't search well enough for it.

After all, the Forum was several years old, so Luke couldn't have possibly gone through every single post. There were some posts he gleaned over due to excitement and others he couldn't completely understand due to their immensely foreign nature.

Regardless, his Class wasn't something he could discount just because there were no concrete mentions of it in Luke's memories.

'Plus, I could die if I don't know anything about it…' Draco thought to the moment that had just passed and shuddered, clenching his fist.

'Even if it might take me some time… I have to learn more about this Legendary Class.'

************

Draco had no choice but to retreat to the opening where he met the white Dragon, opening his Status Window yet again the moment he arrived there.

"Hehe…" A soft chuckle echoed from Draco's lips as he observed the qualitative change in his Stats while going through his Status Window.

He couldn't help the feeling of pure happiness that accompanied his increased strength.

'I need to focus!' He chided himself, tapping on his Class so he could see extra details about it.

Unsurprisingly, another panel opened up.

[Class Details]

Title: Dragon Tamer

Rank: Legendary

{Summary}

The Legendary Dragon Tamer is a master over Dragons and is the only one who can naturally control and communicate with the Dragons of Te'rah. Possessing the power to make Dragons his allies and/or subordinates, he reigns as the supreme entity that the spawns of evil must serve.

{Privileges}

(Condition varies depending on the Dragon)

User can capture a subordinate or ally Dragon into his Soul for the purpose of preservation and/or future utilization

{Restrictions}

As the Legendary Dragon Tamer, your potential is endless, and you can continue to grow as long as you keep Taming Dragons.

However beware: With great power comes proportionate limits.

Due to the connection between man and beast, the Legendary Dragon Tamer can never kill an innocent Dragon.

The Legendary Dragon Tamer must not attack a Dragon unless it proves to be an enemy

As the supreme lord over all Dragons, the Legendary Dragon Tamer must prove himself by subduing Dragons with his own strength if he wishes for them to serve him.

[End Of Information]

"Interesting…"

It was a very long list, but Draco took his time to go over every single information he read, mulling over them with careful diligence so he didn't skip over any important details. He could now understand why he wasn't able to attack the Dragon from earlier, and he also took note of his other limitations.

'But what does the System mean by innocent Dragons?' Draco wondered. 'Is there such a thing?'

Dragons were well-regarded as the spawns of evil.

"They must be vanquished no matter the cost." He repeated to himself, once again going through his list of Privileges so he understood the full scope of the abilities in his arsenal.

'I… am actually quite strong.'

The power to control Dragons was yet to be seen in Te'rah and only existed in legends of the past. Even then, no one was able to achieve natural, perfect control over the wicked force of nature that was Dragons.

'For centuries since we began fighting back against the Dragons, it has been mankind's dream to control those beasts… but to no avail.' Draco furrowed his brows. 'Yet I have been given that power simply because of this Class?'

He could now understand why it was ranked as Legendary.

'It also looks like I have managed to tame one Dragon already. Could it be…' He tapped on the icon that showed the number of captured Dragons he possessed, and a different system panel popped up almost instantly.

[Captured Dragons]

Rank: Unknown (Variant)

Status: Ally (Injured and Recovering)

Breath: Let There Be Light

[Note: Captured Dragons can not be expelled without consent from both parties]

'I see… so its name was Lumina.'

Anytime Draco thought back to that Dragon and the experience he had back then, he couldn't help but feel an indescribably warmth in his heart. Just what was this feeling, and why didn't he feel the same when it came to other Dragons?

He had no idea.

'Looks like my limit for now is two, but that's for [Dragon Capture], not Taming in general.'

There didn't seem to be a limit when it came to Taming Dragons, however seeing that there could be specific conditions to be met in order to use this ability, Draco already understood that it wouldn't be easy.

'That said, I can use the power of at least one Dragon…' He thought about Lumina. 'I don't know its Rank, but the mere fact that it's a Variant makes it incredibly valuable.'

Draco attempted to use both [Dragon Manifestation] and [Dragon Summoning] so he could 'communicate' with the Dragon—whatever that meant—but he was unable to do so due to the severity of its injuries.

[Dragon Manifestation Failed]

[Dragon Summoning Failed]

"Haa…" Draco had to give up on that front and simply focus on the three other abilities that he could use at the moment.

'First is the actual Taming, which I can try out as soon as I leave this clearing. Second is the [Dragon Capture], which I should probably save up for an impressive Dragon since I have limited slots. And finally…'

Draco smiled as a whisper flowed out of his lips.

"[Dragon Breath]."

Instantly, he felt a warmth in his stomach and heart, his eyes glowing bright golden as his hair turned pure white. Golden Dragon tattoos formed all over his skin as shimmering balls of light danced around him like fireflies.

'Whoah…' Draco felt the same sensation as when he first obtained the Legendary Class. 'This is incredible!'

He felt unbelievable power flow through him as the entire clearing warbled with illumination.

That very instant, he knew what to do.

"Let there be light."
