[Ding! Would you like to apply x10 Reward to your Ollivanders wand?]
"Oh! So that's what you meant when you said we'd have an alternative option? Not bad." I laughed out loud, sprawling on my bed. The cool breeze from the window helped calm my excitement.
"Go ahead, do your magic!" I whispered.
The wand, nestled in its forearm holster, shimmered, dissolving into motes of light before vanishing into my skin. As shocked as I was, I knew better than to question the system now. What kind of alterations would it make?
Seconds stretched into minutes, and just as a flicker of concern began to grow, the soft ding of a notification chimed.
[Congratulations! x10 Reward System has modified your Ollivanders Wand!]
[Obtained: x1 13 inch, Fortingall Yew and Nundu Whisker. Bound to soul, able to be stored in inventory or recalled if lost.]
Holy fuck?! A Nundu? I couldn't help but gasp at the core of my new wand. Nundus were known as the most dangerous magical creatures in all of the Harry Potter franchise. While a dragon might require a couple dozen wizards to subdue, a Nundu demanded at least a hundred.
Even then, from what I remembered, no Nundu had ever been tamed, subdued, or killed.
Summoning the wand from my inventory, I couldn't help but trace my fingers over its smooth, clean surface. It still retained its subtle, minimal design, like something mass-produced, yet I knew better.
'Can you tell me about this Fortingall Yew wood?' I questioned the system.
[Fortingall Yew tree is one of, if not the oldest yew trees in this world. Dating back over five thousand years, the wood has absorbed enough ambient magical energy to be classified as a magical treasure.]
As I grasped the handle, I felt the wand thrum with energy. Just as magic flowed freely within my body, the wand felt like an extension of my hand.
'Does the Nundu whisker have some added benefit beyond simply making magic more powerful?'
I knew the system would answer this. After years of testing its limits, I'd discovered it would respond as long as the question pertained to something it had directly influenced. If I asked the current year, or something obscure like Dumbledore's favorite food, it wouldn't answer.
[Nundu whisker is used as a core due to its temperament. Known as the apex predator in the magical world, its stealth, toxicity and power are top-tier. All spells with the intention of harm will have an additional bonus of causing poisoning. Silent casting will be easier and hold the same power of verbal casting. Spell casting power will also be amplified.]
(A/N - Yes, I did some research and I told you all, this is a crack-fic. I tried to tie in the benefits the core gave with actual skills the creature had. I hope you like it. Picture will be posted here of the wand as well.)
I couldn't help but giggle, clutching this overpowered wand. Yes, I knew this was an absolute cheat. Combined with my system, I doubted I'd struggle at all at Hogwarts.
'Red flag? I'm color blind, baby!'

Days bled into weeks as I lost myself in studying the Hogwarts curriculum. Sure, I was gaining absolutely insane bonuses each time I read a book, but it was all theoretical knowledge. The system had a hidden feature I had grown to love ever since I began my magical studies.
For example, I spent the past hour reading about the Lumos charm, which would light up your wand akin to a lightbulb. Most people would study the spell, cast it a couple of times, and be content with its simple, limited uses.
With the system? Additional information flowed into my mind, from simple applications of the charm to much more complex and obscure uses. Lumos could turn from a simple lantern to a focused flashlight, an orb of light that could detach from my wand and move in a direction I chose, or even multiply and hover around my body.
It's like every spell has some sub-category of application that would require an in-depth study through tomes, I contemplated.
I had wished that the Trace wasn't a thing, but unfortunately, I couldn't remove the charm itself yet. McGonagall had left me with a pamphlet titled Muggleborns: So You've Just Found Out About Magic? which had some general information about what we could and could not do in the Muggle world.
The Trace, as I had incorrectly assumed, was actually placed the moment you passed through the brick wall in Diagon Alley. Aurors are posted nearby, and through cooperation with Hogwarts staff, lay in waiting to detect any new student traveling with a professor.
'Hopefully some fan theories about the Room of Requirements were actually possible. I'd love to have unrestricted access to the restricted section of the library, especially on removing this Trace.'
I couldn't help licking my lips at the possibilities that room held.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
"Klaus, have you packed everything for tomorrow?" James asked as he entered the room.
Throughout the last couple of weeks, James had changed our normal training sessions into magical sessions. Sure, he couldn't help me actually study the spells, but having his perspective on practical applications of charms and transfiguration was nice.
Nodding, I closed my book and faced him. "Sure am. Everything's been packed since this morning. Are you sure you'll be okay here with all the troublemakers?"
"Of course! I've been looking after this place long before you got here." He laughed, taking a seat on my bed. I could tell he had something more to say.
"Listen, kid. No matter what happens when you're off at school, you know I'm only one owl away, right? Sure, I don't have magic, but the magical world isn't everything. You always have a home here." He smiled, though his eyes held a hint of melancholy.
I stood up and quickly pulled him into a hug.
"Don't worry, I always know I can count on you. But don't go counting your chickens before they hatch, I'm going to kick that school's ass!" I said, pounding my chest.
"Haha! Alright, you're the wolf about to enter Hogwarts, I get it." Standing up, James ruffled my hair before turning and walking out the door. Before closing it, I heard him whisper. "Night, kid, good luck tomorrow."
'Hogwarts won't know what hit it.'
