Chapter 139 - FTRJ: Chapter 139

"Hee hee hee, very soon, very soon we will succeed!"

Finally, the magic infusion was complete. Byro, barely containing his excitement, picked up the key to activate the Dragon Chain Cannon.

"Your Majesty—"

Suddenly, a voice called from outside the door.

Byro paused, glancing towards the doorway. His face hardened with irritation as he saw Coco running in.

"Coco, haven't I told you countless times not to run around in His Majesty's palace?" he snapped.

Coco ignored Byro, looking around with a puzzled expression.

"Where's His Majesty?" she asked.

Seeing that Coco hadn't heeded his words, Byro sighed. "His Majesty has gone to personally quell the unrest."

"I see," Coco nodded, then turned to the Dragon Chain Cannon behind Byro.

"Please wait! Panther Lily is on that magic crystal right now."

"If you proceed with the plan now, it will definitely endanger him!" Coco shouted urgently.

Byro was silent for a moment before shaking his head.

"This is His Majesty's order. The Dragon Chain Cannon must be activated immediately."

"But Panther Lily is our comrade!" Coco protested vehemently.

"Coco, sacrifice for the greater good is sometimes necessary," Byro retorted sharply, his voice laced with impatience.

"But…" Coco fell silent, seemingly wrestling with a difficult decision within her heart. Then, with sudden determination, she shouted, "I refuse to let Panther Lily die like this!"

With those words, she snatched the key from Byro's grasp and turned to flee.

Byro was momentarily stunned before a surge of intense anger washed over him.

"Stop her!" he roared, his voice echoing through the chamber.

Despite her desperate attempt, Coco was apprehended by the guards stationed outside the door, and the key was reclaimed by Byro.

As Byro prepared to insert the key into the Dragon Chain Cannon's activation mechanism, Coco's spirit sank, her hopes dwindling.

Suddenly, the heavy palace doors were violently thrown open.

Laxus strode into the chamber, his gaze fixed upon the device before him. A glint of understanding flickered in his eyes.

"So, this is where the Dragon Chain Cannon is located," he murmured, his voice low and measured.

"And who might you be?" Byro inquired, his voice laced with suspicion.

"A mage from Fairy Tail," Laxus responded, his gaze unwavering as he fixed his sharp eyes upon Byro.

"Oh, Earthland Fairy Tail, is it?" Byro murmured, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Since you've dared to venture here alone, I presume you've already made peace with the prospect of sacrificing your life, hee hee hee!" Byro cackled, his laughter tinged with a mocking undertone.

A hint of disdain played upon Laxus's lips.

"Just you?" he retorted dismissively.

He withdrew his hands from his pockets.

"Regardless of the circumstances, preventing you from activating the Dragon Chain Cannon will suffice," he declared, his voice firm and unwavering.

In an instant, the air crackled with the raw power of lightning, filling the chamber with a deafening roar.

Byro let out a sinister chuckle.

"No one can stop us!" he declared confidently.

Laxus, without uttering another word, raised his hand, a surge of lightning gathering and coalescing within his palm.

A torrent of raw, untamed lightning energy hurtled towards Byro.

Sensing the imminent danger, Byro hastily leaped away from his original position.

However, the speed of the lightning was astonishingly swift, and Byro's leg failed to evade the attack, resulting in a direct strike.

The searing pain caused Byro to clench his jaw tightly. He swiftly retrieved a vial from his person, removed the cork, and hurled it towards Laxus.

Upon contact with the air, the liquid within the vial instantaneously transformed into a raging inferno, engulfing Laxus in a sea of flames.

A deafening explosion followed immediately thereafter.

"While I must confess to being quite surprised by the method you employ to generate lightning, I assure you that I am far from defenseless!" Byro declared, his voice laced with a mixture of astonishment and defiance.

"Be wary of that liquid!" Coco shouted urgently, her voice filled with alarm.

Even she seemed unaware that she had seemingly shifted her allegiance.

"This fire is utterly insignificant," Laxus's low voice echoed from within the heart of the inferno.

Byro's eyes widened in disbelief as he fixed his gaze upon the figure standing before him, completely unscathed by the explosive flames.

Without a moment's hesitation, he swiftly produced another vial, his expression torn between apprehension and determination. However, the overwhelming sense of pressure emanating from Laxus forced him to cast aside his reservations. He promptly removed the cork and consumed the liquid in one swift gulp.

Immediately thereafter, his initially diminutive form began to expand and elongate dramatically.

A series of remarkable transformations occurred, culminating in the emergence of a colossal octopus before Laxus.

"Octopus liquid! With this transformation, your peculiar magic will prove utterly ineffective," Byro declared confidently, his voice brimming with self-assurance.

"Then, by all means, proceed with your attempt," Laxus responded calmly, his gaze unwavering.

Suddenly, a frown creased Laxus's brow as his attention shifted towards the outside world.

A palpable sense of immense magical energy permeated the air.

Even Byro turned his attention towards the outside world; however, a crazed smile spread across his octopus-like visage.

"Troma Anim!" he exclaimed triumphantly.

"No…" Coco whispered, her eyes filled with despair.

Outside the palace…

Finn, who was preparing to confront the king within the royal palace, furrowed his brow as his gaze shifted towards the palace.

In the next instant, a colossal metallic figure burst forth from the palace, its movements swift and powerful.

The gigantic figure possessed an astonishing capacity for leaping, propelling itself from the palace and landing upon the largest floating island hovering above the palace.

Without pausing for even a moment, the colossal figure launched itself once more into the air, its massive form accelerating through the air towards Finn.

"Finn, look out!" Nancy cried out in alarm, her voice laced with terror as she witnessed the approaching figure.

She immediately began to propel herself and Finn away from the impending danger.

However, the colossal figure's descent was astonishingly rapid, its movements seemingly aided by a subtle yet potent force of flame emanating from its rear.

The metallic fist hurtled directly towards Finn.

Upon recognizing the impending impact, Finn swiftly positioned his Ryūjin Jakka to intercept the blow.

In the next instant, a terrifying impact force struck him.

BOOM—

Finn, who had been soaring through the air, was instantly slammed to the ground by the colossal figure's devastating blow.

A deafening roar reverberated through the air, and a towering plume of dust, reaching hundreds of meters in height, billowed into the sky, obscuring the surroundings in a thick haze.

Nancy's closed eyes slowly fluttered open.

For a fleeting moment, she had genuinely believed that she and Finn would be crushed into a pulp by the colossal fist.

However, to her astonishment, she found herself completely unharmed. A wave of bewilderment washed over her.

As she cast her gaze around her surroundings, she observed that the colossal metallic fist was positioned directly above her, its immense size obscuring her vision.

However, a gap, approximately the height of a human, separated the fist from the ground below.

The reason for this was none other than Finn, who was valiantly holding back the crushing force of the metallic fist.

"To paint the sky black, the bringer of doom! Its name is Dorma Anim!" Byro murmured, his voice filled with a mixture of awe and excitement.

"Dorma Anim, translated, means Dragon Knight! Dragon-reinforced armor!" Byro's octopus tentacles writhed and pulsed with unrestrained excitement.

"Dragon?" Laxus frowned, his expression one of deep concern.

"That's right. This is our world's ultimate weapon!" Byro declared proudly, his voice brimming with confidence.

"In essence, when Dorma Anim paints the sky black, this world will lose more than half of its magical energy," Byro explained, his voice laced with a chilling undertone.

At this point, Byro let out a careless chuckle.

"But we're about to obtain limitless magic, so a little loss like this is insignificant," he stated dismissively.

He then turned his attention towards Laxus, his voice taking on a manic edge. "Now, I want you to watch from the depths of hell as we obtain… eternal magic!"

"Along with that one outside!" he added, his voice dripping with malice.

Upon hearing Byro's menacing pronouncements, Laxus responded with a wry smile.

"That one outside is Finn. He's the man who can burn absolutely everything to ashes," Laxus remarked, his voice laced with a hint of amusement.

"As for you," Laxus continued, his voice hardening, "prepare to atone for your actions within a storm of thunder!"

With those words, the lightning crackling around Laxus intensified dramatically, its power surging to unprecedented levels.
