Chapter 17 - 17

Two chapters today, the result of rushing back. It's not yet 12 o'clock, so I haven't broken my promise. Please give me some votes ^_^

I looked at Akara. At this moment, she was leisurely drinking Spirit Cleansing Water, as if what she had just said was truly just a story and not a history built from flesh and blood on the Dark Continent. The hatred, anger, pain, and sorrow she had just revealed seemed to be merely an acting requirement.

I guessed Akara didn't want to continue speaking. She had already said what needed to be said, and she wouldn't tell me what shouldn't be said. The doubts in my heart could only be explored on my own. Moreover, subconsciously, I didn't want to know too much. I had said it many times: my wish was merely to find a virtuous and beautiful wife and live out the rest of my life in peace. The more I knew, the greater the chance of getting stuck in this quagmire. While I hadn't developed too much affection for this Dark Continent yet, it was best to find a woman and live in seclusion early.

However, there was still one question that I believed Akara wouldn't be stingy in telling me, and it shouldn't be a secret either. Ultimately, it was just that my "lazy Master who ran away" hadn't told me.

"Lord Akara, didn't you just say that the Hell Forces haven't occupied the Third World yet? Then why are there so many monsters from Hell appearing in the First World, where we are now? Furthermore, why do Great Demon Kings like Andariel also appear here and continuously resurrect?"

Akara glanced at me and shook her head, probably sighing at my ignorance.

"To be precise, the monsters appearing here are not the army from Hell, but... you also can't say they aren't?"

"What do you mean by that?"

I was confused. They aren't, but you can't say they aren't? So are they or aren't they? Please don't play these tongue-twisters that test logical thinking with me.

"Young man, you simply don't understand the power of Hell's monsters."

"Actually, the connection between these three similar worlds on our Dark Continent is quite close. For example, it's like the telepathy between twins; when one side is injured, the other side also feels pain."

"Look at the Blood Wasteland where our Rogue Encampment is located. Why is it called the Blood Wasteland?"

"Uh, because it's covered in the blood of warriors... that's what it means," I said uncertainly.

"That is correct."

Akara nodded, paused, slowly took a sip, and then continued.

"The fundamental reason is that the battlefield of the Sin War back then was in the Blood Wasteland of the Third World. It was such a cruel battle, countless lives were buried there, and the blood dyed the entire wasteland red. That's why this place is called the Blood Wasteland."

"But wasn't that something that happened in the Third World?"

"Yes, that war broke out in the Third World, and the blood flowed on the wasteland of the Third World. However, as I just said, there is a certain connection between the three worlds, just like triplets. Therefore, when the wasteland of the Third World was dyed red with blood, it directly led to the appearance of the Blood Wasteland in the other two worlds as well."

"Why is that?" I muttered. This was simply anti-science, anti-humanities, and anti-common sense!

Akara shook her head: "No one can explain this clearly. Perhaps, only the God who created everything here knows."

"As I said, the power of demons is far beyond your imagination. In the Third World, even a lowest-level Fallen probably has the ability of a level 60 Class Holder."

"Uh~~"

On the surface, I showed a look of shock, but my heart was quite calm. This was something I had already expected. Hmph, don't underestimate me. I grew up playing Diablo! I don't know how many times I've abused the five Great Demon King bosses in the Hell difficulty levels.

"So, because the demons are too powerful, and they are ultimately foreign entities that cannot be tolerated by the Dark Continent, their power directly affected the Second and First Worlds as well."

Akara continued.

"To put it in simpler terms, the power of the monsters appearing in our First World is only equivalent to their projections, while the monsters appearing in the Second World have strength similar to their clones. The Third World is where their true forms reside."

"Because of this, since they are just projections and clones of power, we cannot completely eliminate the monsters in the First and Second Worlds. No matter how many times they are killed, they can repeatedly resurrect!" I suddenly understood, realizing the implications of what she said.

"That's right, that's how it is," Akara looked at me approvingly, as if I were a teachable child. "Only by killing the monsters in the Third World can they truly disappear from all three worlds."

"However, it's also fortunate that these projections and clones appeared. Otherwise, our Dark Continent would have failed long ago. As the saying goes, gain and loss are but a single thought away."

"Why?"

From Deck, I had learned how many casualties these so-called projections from the Third World brought to the commoners here. It could be said that it was no less tragic than the Third World. Just looking at the considerable number of orphans and widows in the Rogue Encampment made it very clear.

"You only know one side of it," Akara smiled.

"Although the projections of these monsters have brought us huge casualties, haven't they also trained countless warriors for us? It is precisely because of their existence that we have a continuous stream of elites sent to the Third World. Otherwise, the Third World would have already been captured by the Hell Forces."

"You mean..."

"Yes, take our Rogue Encampment in the First World, for example. Actually, with our strength, we could easily gather some warriors from Harrogath or Pandemonium Fortress to take back the Monastery from Andariel's projection. But what's the use? If the real Andariel doesn't die, her projection will continuously resurrect. Do we want those warriors to stay here forever guarding this land? This not only wastes talent but is also very detrimental to our people's training. That's why we have always held fast to the Rogue Encampment, allowing those monsters to roam outside, while our warriors, just like you..."

Akara patted my shoulder, and a slight grin appeared at the corner of her mouth. This small action was clearly seen by me. Hmph, I can be certain that when Akara said the previous paragraph, she must have thought of the Poem of the Fallen written by that idiotic poet. I'd bet my life on it, because, ahem... because I also thought of it...

"You must accept challenges, defeat these monsters, and finally eliminate Andariel to travel to another city. After finally reaching Harrogath and defeating the projection of the Great Demon King Baal, you will gain the qualification to teleport from the Worldstone to the Second World. Only then can you be considered a qualified Class Holder."

Uh~~ I was just feeling complacent about my Class Holder status a few days ago. I didn't expect it to be like this. It turns out I'm just a substitute among substitutes.

Akara sensed the young man's disappointment and dejection before her, but she didn't say anything. She believed that this level of blow would instead ignite the young man's fighting spirit.

But unfortunately, it seemed she was going to be disappointed. What stood before her was an otherworldly good-for-nothing planning to find a wife and live in seclusion in the mountains. Although Akara's words did strike a blow to me—from the superiority of a dragon to the insignificance of an insect, the feeling is nothing more than this—unfortunately, it failed to ignite the fighting spirit hidden deep within me (perhaps there wasn't any to begin with). What kind of person am I, Wu Fan? How could I fall for such a simple provocation?

Seeing that I didn't immediately make some grand declaration, Akara was clearly a little disappointed, but she continued.

"Then, in the Second World, being closer to the Third World, the monsters there are also stronger. They are no longer projections, but have the strength of clones. Qualified warriors will receive the same tempering in the Second World until they defeat the clone of Baal in the Second World. Only then will they gain the qualification to go to the Third World, and only then can they be called elites, heroes standing on the front line resisting the Hell Forces."

What a rigorous tiered leveling system! After listening to Akara's explanation, I pondered for a moment and found that the more I listened, the more familiar it sounded—how is it so similar to the leveling method of the game I played in my original world? This guy God, instead of being a game designer, ran here to be God. It's truly a waste of talent.

Unconsciously, I had already accepted the reality of this world and was no longer treating this place as a Diablo game world. That's why I felt so surprised by the appearance of a system similar to game leveling.

However, this was truly explosive news! Allowing the monsters outside to harm commoners in order to train warriors might be necessary from the perspective of the big picture, but I don't think commoners who have lost loved ones can still maintain such a clear perspective of the big picture. If this news were released, those commoners would definitely erupt in fury. Holding a ten-thousand-person street parade and demonstration or a thousand-person square sit-in protest would already be considered a very mild approach.
