"A Jedi? Heh. I didn't expect such a pleasant surprise here," the Grand Inquisitor sneered coldly as he spotted the lightsaber in Amir's hand.
"I didn't expect one either," Amir replied, stepping forward. "Looks like I'll be adding two more Inquisitor sabers to my collection today." After all, trash talk before a fight was nothing new.
The Fifth Brother immediately locked eyes with Amir.
"It's you!" he suddenly remembered. Back on that prison ship, the Seventh Sister had encountered a human, while he'd faced a Togruta woman—and it was during that mission that the Seventh Sister had lost her lightsaber.
But that wasn't the first time they'd met. He'd already fought this Jedi before in the secret research facility on Coruscant.
"Long time no see. Both of you can come at me at once—I'm in a hurry," Amir said as he assumed a combat stance.
"Heh... I've heard about you," the Grand Inquisitor said, activating both ends of his double-bladed saber with a sharp hiss. "Who's your master, young Jedi? Tell me, and maybe I'll spare your life."
The sudden ignition startled the nearby children, who instinctively huddled closer to the ship.
Zhhm—! A green blade shot out from Amir's saber. The familiar hum calmed him.
This would be his first real battle against Force-wielders since beginning his formal training.
The Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother advanced slowly, with relaxed confidence. To them, a mere Padawan in these dark times would be weak and untrained. This wouldn't be a battle, they thought—just target practice.
Amir deliberately retreated, drawing them away from the Traveler. This only reinforced the Inquisitors' belief that he was afraid.
Then, without warning, Amir stopped and tapped a button on his wrist. With a soft hiss, the Traveler's ramp began to lower.
Around the corner, Mona appeared, hunched over with Millyson on her back. She rushed toward the ship, shouting at the others.
"Get on the ship—now!"
For a moment the children hesitated, terrified of the dark presence the Inquisitors projected. But they listened and scrambled aboard.
"So, you're still hoping to escape?" the Fifth Brother mocked. He hadn't even noticed the children. As long as they killed the Jedi quickly, the ship and the test subjects would be theirs.
Seeing all the kids safely aboard, Amir took the opening stance of Form III.
But then he realized something troubling—none of the children knew how to pilot a ship.
That meant if he boarded the ship to escape, he'd still have to make it to the cockpit and initiate takeoff—all while the vessel sat completely still. Even if he sealed the hatch, it wouldn't stop lightsabers.
During that time, the Inquisitors could easily board and slaughter everyone.
BOOM!!!
Another violent tremor shook the port. The lights flickered wildly, circuits clearly affected. Even the energy shield separating the hangar from open space was starting to destabilize.
If the shield failed, the entire hangar would be exposed to vacuum. The pressure drop would violently eject everything—people, equipment—and human bodies would shatter and freeze into brittle shards instantly.
Amir moved. The tremor hadn't finished, and the Inquisitors were still regaining balance.
He struck at the Fifth Brother first, his green blade targeting the central axis of the spinning double-blade—a known weak point. Break it, and the enemy would lose their biggest advantage.
But the Fifth Brother didn't just stand there. He stepped back and parried with one red blade.
The Grand Inquisitor had stabilized now. He triggered the rotation on his saber, and it spun into a deadly buzzsaw, forming a solid, circular blur.
Anything that touched that spinning blade would be sliced in half like tofu.
Amir quickly shifted to a defensive stance. Just as the Grand Inquisitor raised his weapon to strike, Amir used his saber to intercept the angle—interrupting the motion before it fully unleashed its force.
Even so, a massive surge of kinetic energy traveled through Amir's blade, jarring his wrist. The rotation carried tremendous power.
Now both Inquisitors had found their footing. They surged forward—four red blades coming down on Amir in a whirlwind.
Through the Force, Amir could sense every trajectory. But they were fast—almost too fast to track. The Grand Inquisitor especially fought with a ferocity that bordered on madness. Every blow targeted a vital spot.
But Amir deflected each one with flawless precision. His calm movements made it look effortless. He was relying entirely on his Force-enhanced perception—reading their body language and anticipating strikes before they landed. Using the defensive techniques of Form III, he turned aside each blow.
Even before his training in lightsaber forms, Amir had once held off both the Fifth and Seventh Sister. Now, with mastery of Form III, he was in his element.
He could feel the joy of Soresu—its harmony with his instincts and perception. It was a style made for someone like him.
It wasn't a form just anyone could learn. It demanded high-level Force sensitivity and rapid mental processing.
Now it was the Inquisitors' turn to grow frustrated. Why was this Padawan so damned tough? It was like hacking at a wall of pure beskar—they just couldn't break through.
Worse, Amir kept disrupting their attacks at the precise moment they committed force, nullifying their momentum. It was like stifling a sneeze mid-breath—or having a full-sized Hutt shoved into your mouth mid-yawn.
It was infuriating!
Both Inquisitors now understood how General Grievous must've felt fighting Obi-Wan.
Still, despite his control, Amir was at a disadvantage. This kind of fighting consumed huge amounts of mental energy—and time was not on his side. He needed to break free of the fight before the space slug outside tore the cruiser apart. He had to escape with the kids.
He didn't believe for a second that enemy reinforcements weren't coming. Combat droids had been chasing him all the way here. If just a few more arrived now, the balance would tip—he'd be overwhelmed.
So, he had to attack. And fast.
He needed to take down at least one of them—now.
