The tension in the living room thickened as Jayvaughn's grandmother leaned back in her chair, her voice dripping with bitterness.
"Good, good," Jayvaughn's grandmother muttered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Everyone is bullying me now. I can't even correct my own grandson to bring him back to the right path. Very good. Very good." She folded her arms and sank deeper into her chair as if the whole world had turned against her.
Dayonna exhaled slowly and pinched the bridge of her nose before answering. "Mom, no one is bullying you, okay? And your grandson hasn't gone astray. He is very much on the right path, whether you believe it or not."
