Since the discovery of an infiltrator at the base, all soldiers and instructors began investigating everyone who stayed at the military base. Kura and Arold were in the showers after a long day of training. Arold was leaving the bathroom so that Itadaki could enter, while his brother was lost in thought, wondering who that person inside the base could be, so much so that he didn't even notice someone had entered the bathroom.
— Yeah... looks like there won't be a solution anytime soon.
He entered the shower, and his first sight was someone's back. The person's head was covered by the steam from the water, but their torso was exposed. Their right arm seemed to be "attached" to their body in a way that made their arms look completely different, as if each belonged to a different person. Kura was startled and embarrassed by it, quickly leaving the bathroom while thinking:
"What the hell is that?! Who, or what, is that thing?"
He tried to figure out who it was, but the shower door suddenly swung open and hit his face hard, making him lose consciousness for a few moments and unable to see who was inside. That only left him with more and more questions, like "who was that person?" and also "why are their arms different?" There was no way the boy could have those answers for now, so he just took his shower and headed to the dormitory, where he slept on the top bunk and his brother on the bottom one.
The next day, after a long period of classes and training, Arold went to shower while the shorty was having lunch. He ate alone in the cafeteria — a big plate of rice, beans, a steak, farofa, and fries. After finishing the meal, he left the cafeteria and spent a moment reflecting in silence for several seconds, until he decided to go to the bathroom after drinking a large glass of lemon juice.
When he entered one of the stalls, he began to feel watched. He activated his ability to sense heartbeats and breathing and detected someone else in the bathroom, behind the stall door. He pushed the ability further to sense the intention of whoever was watching him — it was hostile and murderous. Suddenly, an attack was launched against Kura — it was like a beam firing from the hostile being's eyes. The young protagonist reacted by using his electricity as a "shield." He noticed the enemy's attack evaporate, quickly understanding it wasn't an energy beam, but some kind of liquid.
"It evaporated? So he shot a liquid?!"
Through the holes in the bathroom stall door, he noticed the person had that strange arm. When the attacker realized they had failed in their assassination attempt, they opened a hole in the wall with brute force and escaped through it, avoiding being discovered by the boy.
After the incident, Kura analyzed the hole made in the stall door and noticed it matched the holes found in the bodies of the murdered people. Some superiors arrived at the bathroom to understand what had happened. After discovering and analyzing everything, Kura was removed from the scene as a witness and interrogated about what he saw:
— Well... I didn't get to see the killer's face, but I saw his right arm... I saw that someone who went into the shower after Arold a few days ago had their right arm attached to the body in a weird way, and it was really different from their left arm. And after the attack, I noticed there was a mark on the arm, but I couldn't quite make out what it was.
The man conducting the interrogation was the same one who handled the military admission tests. He listened while taking notes in a notebook he carried under his arm. Once he finished writing, he closed the notebook and put it in his pocket.
— Alright, we'll fix the bathroom and then interrogate your brother, to see if he knows who used the shower after him... well, dismissed, get outta here and go straight to class. You damn class-skipping brat!
The boy was obviously startled by the old man's words. "He knows I skip class?!" The delay only annoyed the director further, who slammed a club hard on the table, snapping Kura out of his trance and sending him running toward the classroom, truly desperate with everything going on.
— Tsk... miserable brat, kills a bishop and thinks he's hot stuff, skipping class...
The old man put a cigar in his mouth and started smoking. Once again, an eye was watching everything that was happening — it was the killer, once more observing his only failed assassination attempt.
— Damn Kura... he's really putting me in check. I need to get rid of him soon — him and his brother!
