Chapter 409 - Chapter 409: We're His Best Friends, After All!

"What? She's going to be living with me from today on?"

Kakashi immediately showed concern when Shindai and Obito told him Hanare would be living with him.

Shindai shrugged. "What else can we do? Hanare is currently a prisoner of Konoha and hasn't been officially recognized as part of Konoha. We obviously can't provide her with housing, right? If she doesn't stay at your place, then she'll have to stay in Konoha's prison."

Obito poked Kakashi hard with his finger. "Come on Kakashi, are you hiding something secret at home? Are you embarrassed for Hanare to find out?"

Kakashi frowned and retorted sharply, "Of course not!"

However, even Kakashi himself felt uncertain saying this. His house was littered with various volumes of *Make Out Paradise*. Since he lived alone, they were just scattered around carelessly.

Shindai turned to Hanare and said, "This guy Kakashi here has a sharp tongue, he's secretly passionate, and also quite perverted. When you live with him, watch yourself. Don't let him sneak into your room at night. If he really crosses the line, just scream—scream until someone hears you! Although I'm not sure whether anyone will come to save you. Can you handle it?"

Hanare looked at Shindai with a strange expression.

Would someone actually come if she screamed?

Then she glanced sideways at Kakashi.

Kakashi almost became enraged. Since when had he become such a despicable person? Sneak into her room at night?

He wouldn't mind sneaking up on someone either—but the first targets would be Shindai and Obito! He'd give them a piece of his mind!

Hanare took a deep breath and couldn't help smiling. "Okay, I can handle it."

Before following Kakashi, Hanare needed to visit Yamanaka Inoichi first to ensure the removal of any intelligence about Konoha from her mind, and then temporarily seal her right eye.

Nighttime.

Shindai and Obito weren't sleeping at their own homes. Right now the two suspicious characters were crouched by Kakashi's window peeping inside.

"Shindai, do you think Kakashi will sneak in on her tonight?"

"I don't think so. Kakashi will definitely act all noble and self-restrained."

Obito raised a question. "If he won't do anything anyway, what are we doing here?"

"Uh..." Shindai was caught off guard by this question.

Right, if nothing would happen, why were they peeking anyway?

Bored, Shindai said, "Forget it, let's call it off and go grab a drink at the izakaya?"

Obito nodded. "Fine."

After Shindai and Obito left, Kakashi inside the house finally relaxed, letting out a sigh of relief.

Kakashi was exasperated—he knew all along those two guys would pull something like this.

Kakashi pointed at a room and said to Hanare, "You can stay in this room from now on."

"Okay... Hmm, oh? Why is this book on the floor?"

Hanare picked up the book from the floor—it was one of the *Make Out Paradise* novels.

Kakashi's eyes immediately widened. He had hidden all his Make Out Paradise series books, yet somehow one still slipped through the cracks.

In a flash, Kakashi snatched the Make Out Paradise from Hanare's hand. "Nothing much—this book is just something I keep around to stabilize the table."

"Is that so..."

Hanare's cheeks flushed slightly; clearly, she knew exactly what Make Out Paradise was.

After all, Jiraiya's Make Out Paradise was wildly popular across the ninja world. As a spy, she needed to stay informed on all fronts—so there was no way she didn't know about it.

Hanare and Kakashi each lay on beds in separate rooms.

Kakashi found this quite troublesome. He had no feelings for Hanare; before today, he hadn't even known her. It was all coincidence. If it hadn't been for Shindai and Obito messing around, he could have been enjoying a relaxed alone time.

Right now, he wouldn't have to worry about someone discovering his stash of Make Out Paradise books.

Meanwhile, in the other room, Hanare pulled the quilt over her head. Whatever thoughts were running through her mind, her face slowly turned bright red.

Inside an izakaya.

Shindai asked, "Obito, how's it going between you and Rin? Why haven't you two gotten married yet?"

Obito shrugged. "Rin and I aren't really in a rush right now. Watching Kakashi though, it seems like love is finally blooming for him too. I'm thinking we should just do both weddings together~"

Suddenly, Shindai grinned mischievously. "Doing them together sounds good. That way, I'll only have to give one set of gift money!~"

Obito tugged at the corner of his mouth. "You've got so much money, why are you being so cheap?"

Shindai retorted, "Since when did you get that idea? The puppets I make are incredibly expensive!"

Obito curiously asked, "By the way, isn't it pretty strict at home? Aren't Yura and Hikaku saying anything about you coming out so late?"

Shindai proudly puffed his chest. "What kind of words are those? At home, I am the head of the household. When I tell them to stand, they dare not sit down. When I tell them to sit, they absolutely won't dare to stretch out or lie back. This is the authority of the head of the family. Even if I don't come home at night, they wouldn't dare to say a word!"

Obito looked at Shindai with an odd expression. "Is that so? I'm afraid it might not be true though. And I'm certain that tonight, you definitely didn't tell Yura and Hikaku that you were going out!"

Shindai rolled up his sleeve. "Heh, who do you think you're talking to! Let me tell you..."

Shindai began bragging to Obito, claiming how he always eats first, bathes first, and even gets massages from others.

Obito's awkward expression gradually shifted into pity.

Shindai noticed Obito's strange look. "Why are you looking like that?"

Just then, two hands clamped onto Shindai's shoulders—one from each side.

"Oh? So you're actually that impressive?"

"You didn't say anything, so we had no idea~"

"Wow, having fun, huh? Sneaking out for drinks with Obito without even telling us. Mister Responsible indeed~"

Shindai broke out in goosebumps and started stuttering nervously: "I—I just didn't get a chance to say anything! It was all Obito's doing! He kept pushing me to come, and honestly, this guy doesn't know how to take no for an answer. What could I do? I had to come!"

Obito stared at Shindai in shock. "Hey, you really have some nerve saying that!"

Ignoring Obito's protest, Shindai hurriedly said, "Pakura, Hikaku, you guys arrived just in time. We've done something big today—let's talk while we eat!"

Eagerly, Shindai pulled Pakura and Hikaku Uchiha to sit beside him, then told them everything that had happened earlier.

Pakura smiled as she spoke: "Hmm? Didn't expect Kakashi to be such a charmer. Who'd have thought carrying a girl home back then would end up getting him a lover?"

Hikaku Uchiha replied, echoing some of Shindai's sarcasm: "Not so fast. Nothing's set yet. From what Shindai and Obito told us, Kakashi doesn't even remember her, right? They might not end up together after all."

Shindai and Obito both confidently replied, "It'll work! Because we, his two best friends, are helping him!"

Shindai and Obito high-fived, looking incredibly proud of themselves.

Pakura and Hikaku Uchiha exchanged skeptical glances—somehow, they suspected, trouble would come precisely because of their so-called 'help.'"
