Chapter 17 - Eleonora the new queen

The battle in the subterranean cavern was cataclysmic. Eleonora, mounted on Poimandres, unleashed a torrent of Chaos magic, while Eldrin and the Moon Elves fought valiantly, but with growing desperation. The combined might of the primordial dragon and the corrupted sorceress was overwhelming.

Despite his skill with the sword and his mastery of lunar magic, Eldrin could not match the destructive power of Eleonora and Poimandres. His protective spells were shattered, his counterattacks deflected, and his warriors fell one after another, victims of the crimson flames or the beast's claws and fangs.

Eleonora, laughing cruelly, watched the carnage from above. Her ambition, once contained, had now boiled over, fueled by the limitless power of Chaos. She no longer cared about Umbria, the Red Wizards, or even the surface world. He cared only for power, for absolute dominion.

"Surrender, Eldrin!" Eleonora shouted, her voice amplified by magic. "Your kingdom is mine! Your people shall be mine!"

Eldrin, wounded and exhausted, but with determination shining in his blue eyes, refused to yield. "Never!" he replied. "I would rather die than see my people enslaved by darkness!"

With a final effort, Eldrin cast a spell, a blast of moonlight that slammed directly into Eleonora. The sorceress, taken by surprise, was knocked off Poimandres's back, falling heavily to the ground.

The primordial dragon, roaring with fury, turned on Eldrin, preparing to annihilate him. But before it could strike, Eleonora scrambled to her feet, her face contorted with rage.

"No!" she cried. "This kingdom is mine! I will give the order!"

Eleonora raised her hands, and a torrent of dark energy erupted from her, enveloping Eldrin and the remaining Moon Elves. It wasn't an attack spell, but something far worse.

It was a domination spell.

Eleonora's Chaos magic, amplified by Poimandres's proximity, penetrated the elves' minds, bending their wills, corrupting their very essence. Their blue eyes, once filled with nobility and determination, turned red, like Eleonora's. Their faces, once beautiful and serene, twisted into grimaces of cruelty.

Eldrin, despite his power, could not resist the corrupting influence. He felt his mind clouding, his will fading, his own Moon magic being replaced by the darkness of Chaos.

With a cry of agony, Eldrin fell to his knees, becoming Eleonora's slave.

The Moon Elves, now under the sorceress's complete control, turned on their own brethren, attacking the few who still resisted the influence of Chaos. The battle was over. Eleonora had won.

Poimandres, with a roar of triumph, landed beside Eleonora. The sorceress, with a triumphant smile, stroked the beast's snout.

"We did it, my lord," she said. "The subterranean realm is ours."

"Ours," Poimandres corrected, his voice echoing in the cavern. "And soon, everything else will be as well."

Eleonora, now the Dark Queen of the Underworld, stood tall over the ruins of elven civilization. At her feet, Eldrin, the noble king, now a mere puppet, stared at her with empty, red eyes. Around them, the Moon Elves, transformed into mindless soldiers, awaited her orders.

Eleonora's ambition had been fulfilled, but at a terrible price. She had sacrificed her soul, her humanity, her very redemption, on the altar of power.

And from her throne of shadows, Eleonora, the Dark Queen, began to plan her next move. The conquest of the surface world. The destruction of Umbria. The eradication of all resistance.

Darkness, fueled by Chaos and ambition, had spread throughout the subterranean realm. And now, it threatened to engulf the entire world. Eleonora's victory had been complete, but the war, the true war, was only just beginning. And this time, the forces of light faced an enemy far more powerful, far more implacable, than anything they had imagined.
