After gaming with Devin, watching movies and talking with his mom, it was already evening and time for dinner.
Dinner was warm and full of soft conversation, the kind that could only exist around a table where everyone felt at peace.
Helena served up more food without needing to be asked, and Devin went back for a second helping of plantains like it was a routine.
Tyler didn't mind. He hadn't eaten like this in months. His appetite, once dulled by long days in Gumua, returned with full force.
As Helena was pouring a bit more juice into his glass, Tyler set down his fork and cleared his throat.
"I was thinking," he said, "maybe we could take a trip. Just the three of us."
Helena looked up mid-pour, and Devin tilted his head in curiosity.
"A trip?" Helena asked.
"Yeah," Tyler said. "Somewhere far. The Caribbean, maybe. We could go relax for a while."
