Chapter 4: The Mysterious Thief
The Going Merry sailed toward a colorful island town, flags flying and cannons silent—for now.
Smoke drifted in the air. Explosions echoed from within.
"This town's not peaceful," Zoro muttered, gripping his swords.
Luffy just smiled. "Maybe we'll find meat—and a navigator."
Inside the town, buildings were damaged and people hid behind shutters.
The cause? A pirate clown named Buggy, ruling with fear and cannonballs.
Luffy and Zoro wandered into the square, curious and hungry.
That's when they met Nami—a young woman with orange hair, swift hands, and a sharp tongue.
She bumped into Luffy "accidentally," but really slipped his money pouch into her pocket.
Zoro noticed and drew a sword. "You've got sticky fingers, girl."
But Nami wasn't ordinary. She could outwit most pirates and didn't fear them.
"I'm no pirate," she said coolly. "I steal from them."
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Wanna join my crew?"
She rolled her eyes. "Not in a million years."
Still, Nami had her own reasons. She wanted a map Buggy held.
She approached Buggy's crew, pretending to betray Luffy.
"I captured a pirate," she lied, tying Luffy up.
Buggy laughed. "Good work! You're clever... join me."
Nami smiled politely, hiding her disgust. "Just give me that map first."
Luffy stayed silent, trusting something was off.
But things spiraled fast. Buggy used his Devil Fruit powers to split his body apart.
His hands and feet flew like missiles, punching and slashing midair.
"Chop-Chop Fruit," he said proudly. "You can't hurt me!"
Nami was stunned. "He's a monster..."
Buggy turned on her. "No one tricks me!"
Luffy broke his ropes in a flash. "Time to fight!"
Zoro arrived just in time, leaping into the fray.
Swords clashed. Fists flew.
Nami hesitated—then helped by tossing Luffy a weapon.
They escaped into the dark streets, barely breathing.
"I still don't trust you," Nami said.
Luffy grinned. "But you helped us."
Nami sighed. "Just until I get what I want."
