The bedroom was still as it was when Aurelia left, but some additions had been made, making the room look warmer and cozier, like a place someone actually lived in.
He placed her onto the bed, pulled up the covers, and carefully tucked her in.
Aurelia stirred, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, and she drowsily opened her eyes, "Where is this?"
"Nightshade Residence," Mason said, "Have you been awake for a while?"
"Woke up when your mom said it's perfectly normal for you to have one or two women outside," Aurelia murmured.
"Don't listen to her nonsense, there's only you, there won't be any other women. There wasn't before, there isn't now, and there won't ever be in the future."
"Life is unpredictable." The matter concerning Eleanor Spencer remained a thorn in Aurelia's heart; she might not be able to change the future, and perhaps after going around in circles, they would find themselves back at the starting point again.
