Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Glutton

Mrs. Zhang became anxious, and Jiang Shaohua went along with it.

After her rebirth, she possessed divine power and had an unusually huge appetite. Perhaps there was something peculiar about her body.

After a short delay, Doctor Sun hurried over.

Doctor Sun hailed from an apricot family, where his ancestors were all renowned physicians. His father served in the Imperial Hospital and was selected by the late Emperor to accompany Prince Nanyang.

Later, as the elder Doctor Sun aged, his elder son took over the duties. This was the current Doctor Sun.

Doctor Sun was forty-five this year, in the prime of his life.

A young man accompanied Doctor Sun, carrying a medicine box. Named Sun Guangbai, he was twenty years old, tall, and handsome. He was Doctor Sun's eldest son.

There was also a fifteen-year-old girl with clear eyes and delicate features, Doctor Sun's daughter, Sun Zelan.

The siblings both studied medicine from a young age. Since Jiang Shaohua was a young lady, Doctor Sun often brought his daughter along when taking her pulse.

Tonight, for example, Sun Zelan played a role.

"Commandery Princess, please come inside." Once Sun Zelan was out of sight of her father and brother, she became much livelier. While carefully examining Jiang Shaohua, she whispered jokingly: "Earlier, when Tu Bai mentioned it, my dad was taken aback. He kept saying that the Commandery Princess was being greedy and eating so much at night would cause indigestion and harm the intestines."

"How does the Commandery Princess feel now? Is your stomach bloated?"

It was like soothing a child.

In fact, Sun Zelan had only just come of age, not much older herself.

Jiang Shaohua, coaxed by a teenage girl, found it amusing and replied: "My stomach isn't bloated, nothing unusual. There's absolutely no bad feeling. I could even eat another jar of hawthorn balls."

Sun Zelan giggled, her hands never stopping as she patiently massaged Jiang Shaohua's stomach before conducting a thorough check of her body.

After Sun Zelan finished her task, she helped the Commandery Princess tidy her clothes, then went out to whisper a few words to Doctor Sun.

Doctor Sun was slightly surprised and personally took Jiang Shaohua's pulse.

The pulse was calm and steady, with no abnormalities.

After checking the tongue and complexion, the conclusion was, "The Commandery Princess is in excellent health, with not a hint of any issue."

Jiang Shaohua smiled contentedly and instructed Mrs. Zhang to give Doctor Sun a pouch as a reward.

Mrs. Zhang escorted the three out of the courtyard and then instructed in a low voice, "Please keep tonight's matter confidential, Doctor Sun, and do not spread it around."

The first and foremost rule for an Imperial Physician is to learn to keep silent.

The physical condition of a noble should never be casually disclosed.

Doctor Sun nodded in agreement.

Sun Zelan held back her laughter all the way and quietly remarked once they were inside the courtyard: "Dad, the Commandery Princess has no problem at all, just a sudden increase in appetite. Why is Mrs. Zhang so anxious?"

Doctor Sun also chuckled, glancing at his daughter: "A young girl eating like a voracious eater, what kind of reputation is that? You should also keep your mouth shut and not mention this to anyone."

Sun Zelan stifled her laughter and replied with feigned seriousness.

Sun Guangbai also smirked quietly.

The siblings had lived in the Nanyang Prince Mansion since they were young, for seven or eight years, growing up alongside the Commandery Princess, so they didn't hold too much reverence for her.

Doctor Sun turned to his son: "In three months, the Imperial Hospital will hold recruitment exams. Go study medical books and memorize prescriptions."

Sun Guangbai could no longer smile and said with a bitter face: "Dad, I've told you before, I don't want to take the exam for the Imperial Hospital. My proficiency in internal medicine is average; I'm more interested in treating falls and external injuries. For someone like me, going to the Imperial Hospital would be an utter waste of time."

Doctor Sun sneered, "Ha! You speak as if you're guaranteed to pass."

"Just because you've diagnosed the Prince Mansion Guards a few times, setting a few bones, and got praised by those clueless aides, you've lost all sense of direction. Go look in a mirror and recognize yourself."

"Go to the study now. If you don't pass the exam this year, I'll break your legs."

Sun Guangbai left dejectedly after his father's scolding, heading to the study.

That night, Jiang Shaohua had no dreams of the past, sleeping remarkably well. Before the fifth watch, she rose and donned her red-and-white martial arts attire, presenting a striking and heroic figure.

Commander Song was already waiting in the Martial Arts Training Ground.

"Uncle, didn't you sleep well last night?" Jiang Shaohua casually chuckled and asked.

If he could still sleep soundly, his heart must be incredibly calm.

Song Yuan silently glanced at the invigorated Commandery Princess and replied, "The targets are set, and the bow and arrow have been prepared for the Commandery Princess."

Jiang Shaohua nodded slightly, scanning the area.

In the spacious field, there was no one else but the two of them.

Song Yuan said in a low voice, "Rest assured, Commandery Princess. I've instructed them to guard outside the Martial Arts Training Ground. From now on, just focus on practicing martial arts and archery here."

Jiang Shaohua's eyes sparkled with amusement as she nodded. First, she poised herself and performed a set of long punches.

Song Yuan sparred with her again. From the first few moves, fist to fist, he confirmed he wasn't dreaming last night; the Commandery Princess indeed possessed extraordinary strength. Song Yuan immediately switched tactics. Instead of meeting force with force, he used superior footwork to dodge, occasionally offering guidance.

Jiang Shaohua quickly memorized the gist of the footwork.

After warming up, she practiced archery. Song Yuan had considerately prepared five bows, one of which was Jiang Shaohua's usual small bow. The other four bows varied from a one-stone bow to a four-stone bow.

In the army, most archers used a three-stone bow. Those who could pull a four-stone bow were considered divine archers. Song Yuan himself used a four-stone longbow.

Jiang Shaohua glanced over them and directly picked up the three-stone bow, easily drawing it and shooting an arrow.

The arrow flew swiftly, and in the blink of an eye, it hit the target. The bullseye was pierced through. That arrow flew another ten meters before dropping to the ground.

Having anticipated this, Song Yuan quietly handed over his four-stone longbow.

The four-stone longbow was truly extraordinary, heavy in hand. Jiang Shaohua adjusted her breathing and focused her mind to draw the bow. To her, this bow, challenging for many experts, felt like a lightweight toy.

At a hundred paces, she consecutively shot ten arrows, each hitting the bullseye.

Jiang Shaohua then stepped back fifty paces and shot ten more arrows. This time, two arrows were slightly off, one hitting the nine ring, the other the eight ring.

Even without considering strength, her archery was impressive.

Jiang Shaohua felt a hidden joy.

Not only did she gain divine strength, but her eyesight, endurance, agility, and precision were all significantly improved.

"Commandery Princess may continue using this longbow," Song Yuan's voice came from beside her: "In the Personal Guard Camp, there are five-stone strong bows. In a few days, I'll retrieve a bow from the camp."

As it was approaching seven, Jiang Shaohua trained for half an hour before going to bathe and change clothes to meet her officers.

For breakfast, she ate a plate of flower rolls, two bowls of hot soup, three pieces of date cake, and four eggs, with five exquisite small dishes. Lastly, she casually polished off a small plate of candied fruit pastries.

Mrs. Zhang, with a beaming smile, sent off the well-fed Commandery Princess to her duties, then turned around, fretfully scratching her head.

What kind of young lady could eat so much in one meal?

How did the well-mannered Commandery Princess suddenly turn into a glutton?
