Yao Xin certainly wouldn't interpret the "no privileges" mentioned by Hephaestus as Gods becoming ordinary mortals.
The "privileges" Hephaestus referred to more specifically mean the inherent majesty and unique characteristics of the Gods.
For most Gods who have long been accustomed to being in exalted positions, this kind of degradation of identity and life level is even more unbearable than direct death.
