The originally leather bag, soaked for a long time, was limp, and Lu Xi'an always felt it might break at any moment while he was holding it.
The bag was secured with a zipper, but after years of being submerged, the zipper was broken and wouldn't open. The leather was easier to deal with; a gentle tug and it opened up.
