Chapter 19 - Chapter 9 Military Doctor, Major Event

Mo Ying was stunned by 2569's extremely procedural response. She hesitated a bit as she looked at the occasionally short-circuiting, occasionally serious 2569 and ultimately didn't voice her rebuttal.

A robot butler, why bother arguing with it...

Seeing Mo Ying lower her head and remain silent for a long time, 2569 displayed a puzzled expression on the light screen and then short-circuited again—it slid around Mo Ying several times, trying to get this guest's attention. Failing that, the whole robot seemed a bit dejected and slid away awkwardly.

"Beep...2569...beep...failed to get attention...beep!"

Mo Ying: ...

Can't you see she's feeling sad right now!

With all the seasonings and ingredients at hand, Du Xixi cooked with ease, almost without having to think. She instinctively reached for the ingredient or seasoning she wanted.

Moreover, since this full pork feast was meant to be a supper, there was no need to spend time cooking rice. By the time Du Xixi finished preparing a whole table of meat dishes, it was just past eight in the evening.

Du Xixi knew Mo Ying must not be in a good mood at the moment, but she was confident that after having this supper, Mo Ying's mood would improve significantly.

So, seeing Mo Ying sitting somewhat despondently on the sofa, she walked over with a smile, coaxingly pulling Mo Ying to sit at the dining table, and then, showing off: "Ta-da! Look, this is the delicious food I've worked so hard to make, Sister Mo Ying, you must give it a try!"

Though Du Xixi's current physical condition has improved and is decent enough, at least there's no problem moving around daily, her frail foundation still remains. It took her quite some effort just to chop up that small plump pig.

It's not that Du Xixi didn't want 2569's help, she just thought that since Mo Ying was in a bad mood, 2569, with its tendency to short-circuit, might amuse her, which is why she sent 2569, this "tool person," away.

However, when Du Xixi glanced at 2569 squatting in a corner doing who knows what, and saw Mo Ying with her head slightly bowed, still not in high spirits, she knew the "tool person" 2569 hadn't been of any use.

Sighing inwardly, Mo Ying didn't want to dismiss Du Xixi's kind gesture, so she picked up the chopsticks and carefully put a piece of stir-fried pig's blood into her mouth.

Although Mo Ying constantly persuaded herself in her mind that she was picking up the chopsticks for Ke Lian and Du Xixi's sake, her physical reaction revealed her true thoughts.

Almost as soon as she sat down, the enticing aroma wafted to her nostrils. Even though she instinctively held her breath to avoid smelling too much, the scent lingered at her nose, unwilling to disperse, and even quietly made its way from her nose into her brain.

Saliva unconsciously started to secrete. One mouthful followed another, and the resistance and aversion in her mind had long vanished who knows where. Only three words lingered in her mind—So! Tasty!

The spicy stir-fried pig's blood, the crunchy pig skin jelly, the soft braised pork, the chewy steamed pig ears and tails... Mo Ying had long been unable to stop herself.

Du Xixi also ate quite a bit, but her appetite wasn't big. While Mo Ying was eating with great relish, she held onto a small pig's trotter, nibbling it in small bites, her face showing delight.

Clearly, Du Xixi's first step was very successful. Even Mo Ying, who detested the Insect Clan to the extreme, could set aside her resistance in the face of delicious food and "surrender."

If, in the future, the concept of gourmet food becomes ingrained in people's hearts, and the brutal image of the Insect Clan is quietly worn away, wouldn't eating meat become an everyday affair?

At this moment, Mo Ying, who was happily eating, seemed to sense Du Xixi's joy. Her heart subtly cooled, and she subconsciously put down her chopsticks, saying softly, "Xixi, I admit, these foods made from the Insect Clan are delicious, but... this can't possibly be popularized."

"Why?" Du Xixi, unaware that the edibility of the Insect Clan had been mostly proven, was happily fantasizing about future days filled with sumptuous meals, only to have Mo Ying's words pour cold water on her daydreams. She opened her mouth to know the reason.

"Do you really know the danger of the Insect Clan? Their brutality frightens the entire interstellar space. Otherwise, why would the Marshal be assigned to the frontline in response to this Insect Clan army's invasion of the border instead of other officers?" Mo Ying walked over to Du Xixi, gently patting her shoulder, "Xixi, you haven't been to the battlefield. There... the phrase 'a fate worse than death' is a luxury for us soldiers."
