Chen Dahai walked into the interrogation room and saw Director Wang standing grimly to one side. A middle-aged man with a commanding appearance was seated at the main interrogator's position, while Xu Xiangbei sat casually next to him, sensing that the situation was unusual.
An assistant director told Chen Dahai, "This is Director Jiang of our municipal bureau. You must answer truthfully and cannot deceive us."
If Director Wang were the main interrogator, Chen Dahai might have had some confidence, since he knew him. But with the police chief as the interrogator, Chen Dahai felt like he was carrying a precarious burden, uneasy and anxious.
Director Jiang pointed at the surveillance camera, his voice authoritative, "Every word you say will be recorded. If you falsify testimony, according to Article 105 of the Criminal Law, you could face a sentence of more than three years in prison."
