Coming back to her senses, Roy had a distinctly ominous premonition.
The door banged loudly and was soon knocked open by the attendants. Meeting their uncertain and suspicious eyes, she explained nothing, merely adjusted Vivian's skirt to cover her exposed calf.
"Seal this place. No one is allowed to leave, and no word is to leak out."
Roy wiped her face vigorously and stood up holding Vivian, "Leave two people to take me to Carambola Lane."
She couldn't leave Vivian here.
Sending her back to the Salin family was obviously inappropriate. Viscount Salin wouldn't consider his daughter's interests at all, and to appease the Howard family's anger, he might even offer up the body for them to deal with as they wished.
Roy didn't want the Howard family to know the murderer was Vivian. She needed to buy enough time to fabricate a more reasonable and discreet cause of death for Frank, so the Howard family couldn't blame anyone.
