"How could you...!" Lawrence gritted his teeth, trembling as he scolded, "How could you say such vulgar, filthy words!"
Miss Roy of the Derek family is a gentle lady.
She is hailed as the flower of Valtorre, a symbol of nobility and beauty. A bard once saw her from afar, and thereafter became emaciated and despairing, writing frenzied love poems before drowning himself in a lake.
- Feathers, silk, pearls, and gems could not create such beauty. She is so exalted and beautiful, while I can only grovel in the dust, imagining kissing the hem of her skirt.
- If she were a poor girl, I could embrace her, seduce her, sully her with dirty desires. These cravings are so base; they only serve to intensify the despair and cruelty of reality. So I would rather die, as a punishment, as an atonement, as my most passionate declaration of love.
These words were left as the bard's final message at the end of his poem.
