Chapter 2 - Termination and Withdrawal from the Industry

After Ji Xizhi left the internet cafe, she went to the building opposite Hangxing Entertainment. She only came out half an hour later to hail a taxi home.

The first thing she did when she got home was to find the original contract between her and Hangxing Entertainment.

It's not that simple for a celebrity to leave the industry, especially since the original plot mentioned multiple times the contract between the original self and Hangxing Entertainment, which was specially made by the strongest legal team of Hangxing Entertainment. Celebrities who previously terminated their contracts with Hangxing either failed or got severely penalized, and Hangxing's legal department was said to be invincible.

Given Ji Xizhi's current somewhat notorious fame in the entertainment industry, Hangxing Entertainment would never let her go.

However, Ji Xizhi was not scared.

Lawsuits were as common as meals to her.

She was originally a doctoral candidate from the law school of Qing University, and as long as it's a lawsuit she wants to take on, she has never lost!

Ji Xizhi casually took a few pictures of the key terms of the contract, then handwritten a complaint, intending to post it on Weibo to publicly sue Hangxing Entertainment. But as soon as she opened the original owner's Weibo, she saw her inbox and comments flooded with 999+ messages.

The hashtag #JiXizhiGetOutOfTheEntertainmentIndustry was prominently featured on Weibo's trending topics.

An ID called "HowManyMenDidJiXizhiSleepWithTonight?" maliciously cropped Ji Xizhi's avatar, photoshopped her into a nine-photo grid of funeral photos, naked photos, and bed photos, causing numerous people to share and ridicule. Everyone laughed heartily in the comments.

[Hahahaha, you photoshopped Ji Biao's body so well. Does she deserve it? I'll photoshop another one for you! (image.jpg)]

[This funeral photo must've been beautified. Don't photoshop funeral photos, otherwise the underworld might collect the wrong person!]

[Poor underworld staff, they need to wash their eyes after collecting Ji Xizhi!]

The insults and curses were endless, and the likes, comments, and shares exceeded tens of thousands.

Surprisingly, not one person thought this was illegal.

Ji Xizhi coldly chuckled repeatedly; the plot of the original novel was indeed a lawbreaker magnet!

She immediately saved screenshots and videos as evidence from the trending posts, then added another page to the complaint. She edited and published both complaints on her Weibo.

Ji Xizhi V: Unfair contract, slander and insults, see you in court. @HangxingEntertainment @HowManyMenDidJiXizhiSleepWithTonight?

Accompanied by images of relevant legal provisions.

As soon as this Weibo was posted, the black fans lurking on Ji Xizhi's Weibo jumped at it. They didn't even bother to read the Weibo content properly, mindlessly spewing hate, shouting for Ji Xizhi to leave the entertainment industry.

Ji Xizhi found the most polite comment and replied: "I'll leave the industry after terminating the contract."

After saying all this, she was not interested in wasting more time online, so she directly logged off Weibo and turned off her phone.

Nobody expected that this announcement of leaving the industry would actually satisfy the followers of the female protagonist from another story. Even many rational fans began to suspect whether Ji Xizhi was being manipulated by Hangxing Entertainment.

The rhythm of the black fans was completely thrown off, and the originally negative public opinion on the internet suddenly reversed.

However, Ji Xizhi, being offline, was oblivious to this. While Weibo was abuzz with discussions, she was focused on watching videos related to postgraduate entrance exams on her computer.

Having already graduated with a doctorate, taking the postgraduate exam wasn't a challenging thing for her, but reviewing was still necessary.

Ji Xizhi studied diligently until eleven o'clock, then took a bath, applied a face mask, and slept soundly.

Elsewhere, at the Central City Hospital.

From when Zhao Ren was found unconscious in the manager's office at Hangxing Entertainment to being taken to the emergency room, several hours had passed.

As soon as Zhao Ren woke up from the hospital bed, he furiously yelled, wanting to take Ji Xizhi down.

But before he could make a move, he heard his assistant timidly speak.

"Um, Brother Ren, Ji Xizhi seems to have…trended on Weibo."

Zhao Ren was so angry that his head throbbed painfully. He clutched his head fiercely and said, "No one from the company is allowed to suppress her comments with water army! I want her cursed to death by black fans!!!"

Assistant: "But…it seems our company is the one being cursed?"

Zhao Ren: "?" What the hell?!

The fire in his chest momentarily paused. Without even asking, he immediately opened his phone to check Weibo.

Several trending topics in a row were all related to Ji Xizhi, #JiXizhiOfficiallyLeavesTheIndustry, #JiXizhiSuesHangxingEntertainmentAndBlackFans, #IsHangxingEntertainmentInvolvedInCoercingArtists#.

Under the topic, many people started investigating Hangxing Entertainment's past. Some even began questioning and demanding evidence on Hangxing Entertainment's official Weibo.

Seeing this, Zhao Ren felt a chill down his spine. He couldn't even bother with the incident involving Ji Xizhi hitting him, hurriedly trying to call her.

But before he could get through, a call from the company's higher-ups came first.

"Zhao Ren, how did you handle this! Making President Zhou wait until now, and then there's this Weibo trending topic mess. Do you not want this job anymore!!!"

The higher-up on the other end was about to explode.

Zhao Ren was sweating profusely, "It's, it's my fault. I'll go find Ji Xizhi right away and handle it!"

"Find Ji Xizhi, my ass! Get your ass back to the company right now, our official Weibo is about to explode! If you don't resolve this tonight, you can forget about being a manager!" The higher-up roared in fury.

Zhao Ren nodded repeatedly in agreement, not even finishing his IV drip, immediately pulled the needle out, and rushed back to the company.

·

Zhao Ren, battered and bruised, pulled an all-nighter at the company, apologizing to President Zhou and managing the water army to suppress the company-related topics.

In contrast, after a good night's sleep, Ji Xizhi was in great spirits, received her reviewed materials by mail in the morning, and started studying energetically.

She had a clear revision plan; when to study and when to rest, never procrastinating.

Ji Xizhi had breakfast and studied for an hour when the doorbell rang.

A round-faced girl walked in from outside.

Ji Xizhi had an impression of this girl; she was an assistant that Hangxing Entertainment previously assigned to her, named Xiao Yuan.

As soon as Xiao Yuan entered and saw Ji Xizhi sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window with a pen, she was first stunned and took a while to react: "Sis, why haven't you put on makeup yet?"

Ji Xizhi was taken aback: "Makeup?"

"Isn't today the first day of the 'Life Experience' recording? We have to leave soon!" Xiao Yuan said as she deftly started packing clothes into a suitcase.
