Chapter 35 - The Hunting Plan

Wu Xian and the other two all took a step back.

Zombies are too well-known—who hasn't seen a few zombie movies? Their eyes were all filled with caution as they pulled out their weapons, ready to strike at any moment.

Wen Chao shook his head helplessly.

"Don't be like that. She's very gentle, won't hurt anyone."

Wen Chao affectionately grabbed the zombie's hand. The sight made everyone's scalp tingle—gentle zombie my foot.

"This is my wife, Fu He."

"When we were young, we were both busy with work. Now that we're old, she's sick. I wanted to take her out to see the beautiful world one last time."

"But this place turned into a Blessed Land, and she's always been timid… so, she didn't survive the first night."

"Fortunately, the Blessed Land isn't quite like the real world."

"I learned from you all, started worshipping the idols too, and got a talisman called 'Corpse Refining Technique.' I thought it would bring her back to life, but instead, it turned her into this half-human, half-ghost form."

While Wen Chao was explaining, Wu Xian carefully examined the old woman zombie.

On her hand and collar, he saw bits of flesh and long hair. Judging by the length, it seemed to be...

"Is Yue Mei's body still here?"

Wen Chao shook his head.

"No, I let old Fu eat her. Fresh flesh and blood can enhance a zombie's strength. I thought it would be a waste otherwise..."

His tone was calm, as if he was feeding the zombie discounted pork from the supermarket rather than a human being.

Su Huijin asked, "What about the bodies that disappeared earlier...?"

"I fed them all to old Fu. To complete the corpse refining, you need enough flesh and blood. I figured those bodies were just lying there anyway."

Wen Chao was very frank.

But this honesty sent a chill through Wu Xian and Shi Ji's hearts.

If corpse refining requires live humans, would this old man consider them as fodder too?

So this seemingly kind old man was the real ruthless one!

The group steadied their emotions.

Now was not the time to question Wen Chao's sins of corpse refining.

Since the causes of death for the two women had been clarified, Wu Xian relaxed. As long as they didn't die for no reason, his plan could proceed with confidence.

Wu Xian cleared his throat.

"You're all familiar with the Clapping Game. As long as we rely on the Child-Seeking Ghost Mother, we can safely get through the next few days."

"I suppose none of us want to take risks anymore."

"But are you really willing to just end it like this?"

Shi Ji immediately shot Wu Xian down.

"What's there to be unwilling about? Being alive is better than being dead."

Wu Xian glared at Shi Ji, who immediately shrank back.

"This time we can survive, that's true."

"But what about next time?"

"We're already stuck in the Blessed Land. Sooner or later, we'll face a similar situation again. Will we be lucky enough to escape then? Should we gamble on that tiny chance of survival?"

"No, we should seize the opportunity to gain more benefits, so that in future Blessed Lands, we have an advantage."

Su Huijin chimed in, "I've been through several Blessed Lands. If you perform well, you can gain some advantage... but it's very small."

"If I hadn't blown up the cesspool, I wouldn't have gotten the 'Zi Gu' blessing. Should we try blowing up the cesspool again?" Shi Ji supported Wu Xian's idea and earned a glare from him as approval.

After this discussion, the three of them felt somewhat tempted.

Wen Chao asked, "What kind of risk are you talking about?"

Wu Xian's lips curled into a smile.

"I have a plan…"

...

Daytime in the Blessed Land was noticeably getting shorter.

The sunlight was dimmer than before, and even in broad daylight, vague shadows could be seen. Every blade of grass, every brick and tile exuded a strange and eerie feeling.

After Wu Xian finished explaining his plan, the other three agreed unanimously.

Su Huijin and Wen Chao wanted to gain some slight advantages for the next Blessed Land to earn a bit more benefit.

Shi Ji simply trusted Wu Xian.

Otherwise, given his thinking, this plan would be no better than blowing up a cesspool.

But there was still one obstacle they had to clear beforehand to execute Wu Xian's plan:

The female demon Yu Yinghua!

As long as she was around, Wu Xian's plan couldn't be carried out.

So, with information provided by Su Huijin, they arrived at the entrance of the supermarket's underground warehouse.

The warehouse door was wide open. Cement steps stretched downward into an endless darkness. Inside, the warehouse was pitch-black and emitted a deeply unsettling atmosphere.

Su Huijin shared what she knew.

"This demon is very troublesome, nothing like those small wandering spirits."

"To kill her, we need to overcome three challenges."

"The first problem is lighting. It's too dark in the basement, making it very difficult for us to see where she is, but she knows our positions like the back of her hand."

"The second is strength. Yu Yinghua's body is very tough. Ordinary magical tools and talismans can only do limited damage to her."

"The third is the cement floor. Yu Yinghua has the ability to turn the concrete into a muddy swamp. Once we enter, our movements will be severely restricted."

After speaking, Su Huijin crossed her arms and looked at the three men.

Her meaning was clear: she was only responsible for providing intelligence, and the fighting was for the men to handle.

Wen Chao was the first to speak. "Leave the lighting and the cement floor to me. I can't promise to solve everything perfectly, but I can definitely improve the situation."

"Thanks, Professor Wen," Wu Xian nodded. "Then the direct confrontation with the demon will be up to the three of us."

Hearing this, Su Huijin immediately frowned.

"Why should I come? I've already provided the crucial intelligence; that's contribution enough. There's no need for me, a weak woman, to join the fight."

Indeed, Su Huijin's intelligence was extremely valuable—almost a strategic guide. With it, Yu Yinghua was like fish on a chopping board. It wouldn't be unreasonable for her to sit out the battle.

Wu Xian also acknowledged her contribution.

"You have a point, but… I don't trust you."

"You—!"

Others might not see it, but for detective Wu Xian, Su Huijin was no longer merely suspicious—she was the confirmed culprit.

The deaths of He Qiong and her sister were absolutely connected to Su Huijin, and he didn't trust himself to fight to the death while this venomous beauty stayed safe in the rear.

The two held each other's gaze for a moment until Su Huijin finally gave in helplessly.

There was no choice—Wu Xian was just too dominant now.

With the plan set, everyone began preparations.

Wen Chao explained one by one what he needed, while Wu Xian and Shi Ji busied themselves gathering supplies.

Though the Blessed Land covered only four small neighborhoods, the variety of shops was fairly complete.

Only food and water stores had been emptied, but other shops like hardware and building materials were still intact.

In no time, all of Wen Chao's requested items were ready.

Wen Chao arranged and organized everything.

The plan to hunt Yu Yinghua was now fully prepared.

All that remained was to take action!
