Sylus was seated on the bed after his breakfast.
There were no minds around; for the first time in days, he was finally alone.
However, the door was opened, a deliberate act by his mother to spy on him every once in a while.
As such, Sylus was careful not to do anything suspicious.
With his back facing the direction of the door, Sylus decided to check his stats one more time and summoned the floating screen.
'This must be what those rich people see when they hold those glowing smartphones with no buttons.'
He moved his face close, his big baby eyes trying to find meaningful information he could gather from the system.
The first to catch his eyes was the Title the system had given him.
[The Fated Prince.] Title description: "This title carries an aura of both honour and burden, as the world has chosen the bearer for a pivotal role in fate."
Sylus didn't stop there, as other information caught his eyes quickly.
[The Chosen One.] Aspect description: The stars of the world have picked you as their favorite.
Of course, Sylus was unfamiliar with what any of them meant, at least not until he began to learn more about them from the runes before him.
The first was the title he was supposedly given by the world.
[The Fated Prince.] was, as it looked, a title that forced him to get tangled with the workings of fate. Whether good or bad, Sylus would always be at the center of it all.
He couldn't help but wonder if perhaps that was the reason he got reincarnated as a three-year-old baby to begin with.
But thinking further, the title itself could be either a curse or a blessing, depending on the luck that followed him through it.
And judging from his previous life, luck hadn't exactly been his strong suit.
The next one was a bit more straightforward since it was an aspect born from his title, [The Fated Prince.]
If titles were unique marks given to you by the world, aspects were merely abilities born from said titles.
[The Chosen One,] according to what Sylus read, allowed all forms of matter to bow and accept him. This meant his affinity for any type of magic was almost certain.
Although he wasn't knowledgeable about the types of magic that existed in his world, it was still a powerful aspect to have.
There was also the fact that the aspect allowed people to be drawn to him; depending on how you looked at it, it could be a good or bad thing.
Like his brother who wanted to kill him just for existing, would this ability make him want to kill him even more?
Sylus shrugged at the thought.
Having to die at the hands of a gorilla while being a three-year-old was not something he wanted to experience.
Carrying on, he was about to explore the next part of the system-
"Sylus!"
Hearing his mother scream his name from behind, Sylus flinched.
It was unexpected; rather, he felt like he was being caught doing something wrong.
The moment he turned to look around, his body went tumbling down.
'Eh?'
Elizabeth ran as fast as she could, her face etched with distress.
Before Sylus could touch the ground, she acted.
Raising her hand to her front, her eyes glowed a bit, and right then and there, Sylus was hovering a few inches from the ground.
As she fell to her knees, Sylus's body slowly lowered to the ground.
'Magic?'
That was the first thought that crossed his mind.
He was so captivated by the system's teachings that he didn't realize he had shifted to the edge of the bed.
Yet, even though he was so close to crossing back to the afterlife, a smile was still etched on his face.
'Magic…'
He repeated again.
Mirroring the look on her son's face, Elizabeth uttered from where she knelt,
"Baby, are you alright?"
She figured showing she was scared out of her mind a few moments ago would make baby Sylus cry; since he was smiling, she would too.
To her surprise, Sylus gently stood to his feet, dusting his buttocks, and waddled slowly towards her.
Reaching his destination, he grabbed her hand-
"Magic."
He said out loud, his voice soft and cute.
Since he hadn't been injured from the fall, this would be the first time he had opened his mouth to say anything.
Elizabeth's eyes lit up with joy before she wrapped her arms around Sylus, shoving his face into her chest in a burst of happiness.
"Yes, Sylus, Magic!"
She voiced out with happiness.
'Eh? I can't say more than one word?'
Still in his mother's embrace, Sylus tried to look up at her face.
"I want magic."
On the outside, it looked like he was neutral, but inside, Sylus's mind was filled with confusion.
He simply wanted to ask his mom what type of magic she used to stop him from falling to the ground. However, whatever he thought in his head only came out as summaries.
'Why can't I say a full sentence? Is this because I am a three-year-old?'
He knew nothing about babies; as such, this new discovery was particularly shocking.
Now pushing him further away, Elizabeth locked eyes with him.
"You want to learn magic?"
Since he realized speaking had been nerfed, he nodded in response.
Almost as if everything he did was cute to her, Elizabeth's cheeks turned red, a slight moan leaving her mouth as she fought the urge to hug Sylus again.
Eventually, she replied,
"You can't use magic now, Sylus, not until you've awakened your star blessing. The only reason mummy can use magic is because I already got my star."
'This is a good opportunity for me to learn about these star things.'
Putting one finger in his mouth, Sylus asked, "Star?"
To which Elizabeth then replied,
"You silly boy, you're too small to understand that."
'Dammit.'
And then she picked him up from the ground, just to hug him even more.
