He moved his hand and the air distorted. The colors rearranged themselves and an image was projected in front of Hatake.
When he saw it, Hatake flinched.
"What is this?"
"The future", Kaito replied. "Or at least, the original future."
The image changed.
The door to the room opened and a child ran inside.
"Dad, are you here?"
"Kakashi..." Hatake murmured.
The scene advanced.
Kakashi found his father's lifeless body. The image moved quickly, but Sakumo perceived it as if it were at normal speed.
He saw his son completely disturbed and terrified. A darkness grew in his heart.
His personality, once simply independent, became lonely. He did not get close to anyone, after losing the person closest to him, he decided never to truly let anyone get close again.
Sakumo watched as Kakashi grew up believing that feelings do not matter for a ninja, that a ninja should only be a tool.
In the end, Kakashi became what Sakumo hated the most. The very thing that led him to take his own life. Nothing more than a puppet of the higher ups, someone who never considered himself.
"Enough, stop!" Sakumo shouted.
Kaito canceled the image.
"Is that... real?" he asked, afraid of the answer.
Kaito remained silent.
He did not need proof. Sakumo knew his son better than anyone. Even if it was not the real future, he knew that was exactly how Kakashi would react.
"I... Kakashi, I am sorry", he apologized through tears.

It showed what seemed to be the present day Earth, but with one clear difference.
