Li Yang had actually come to his home!
Qin Guan's mind went blank, stunned.
This imbecile dared cause a scene here!
The door swung open as Li Yang barged in, shouting recklessly: "Qin Guan! Give me back my wife!"
Auntie Feng stumbled, nearly falling. Xu Ruyi stared in shock, clutching Little Pear.
This is over!
Qin Guan surged from the couch, lunging to grab Li Yang by the collar and hurl him outside.
"Li Yang!" he roared, mustering every ounce of authority. He couldn't let this fool ruin his life. "I've warned you—stop slandering me with baseless accusations! This is defamation! A crime! I'll call the police!"
"It's not slander! You're hiding her!" Li Yang, though sprawled on the ground, burned with rage. His voice rivaled Qin Guan's. "You seduced my wife! Don't think I don't know! You hypocritical bastard! I've known all along—you slept with her during lunch breaks, weekends, fake business trips! You two pretended to work while fucking!"
How does he know? Qin Guan's throat tightened. Where had this idiot gotten such details?
"You used her! Got bored and killed her!" Li Yang sobbed incoherently. "You're keeping her from me! We were engaged! She was mine!"
Neighbors upstairs and down had surely heard. Xu Ruyi's silent presence behind him felt like a mountain crushing his spine.
Qin Guan swallowed hard, forcing composure. "You're insane! Spouting delusions!"
He turned to Xu Ruyi, feigning righteous fury. "Call the police! Now!"
Xu Ruyi stood frozen, shielding Little Pear, her face pale.
"Call them!" Qin Guan barked, stomping inside to "search" for his phone. "Never seen such a lunatic! Blames everyone but himself! Needs psychiatric help!"
He ranted loudly, cleansing his image. "Qi Min's no saint either! How'd she end up with this trash?"
Xu Ruyi remained statue-still, eyes locked on Li Yang's tirade. Had she believed him?
"Where's my phone?" Qin Guan muttered, tossing couch cushions. He hurried to Xu Ruyi, embracing her shoulders. "Don't be scared. He's mentally ill! Caused chaos at the office too. Take Little Pear inside. I'll handle this."
Xu Ruyi numbly led their daughter away, then suddenly returned with her unlocked phone. "Use mine."
Qin Guan froze. Taking it meant calling the police—but he couldn't explain today's events to Xu Ruyi.
Outside, Li Yang raged: "Call them! See who they arrest—you animal!"
Before Qin Guan could dial, the elevator dinged. The officer from earlier emerged.
Qin Guan's scalp prickled. Had they found Qi Min? What had she told them?
The officer glared. "Mr. Qin, we checked the mountain house. No one was there. The number you gave isn't Qi Min's. Where is she?"
Xu Ruyi halted, refusing to leave. There'd be no escaping now.
If Qi Min had confessed their affair to the police… If Xu Ruyi learned the truth…
Qin Guan's throat dried, blood roaring in his ears. He hadn't prepared a lie.
The officer pressed coldly: "We need answers. Now."
