Chapter 44 - Aftermath

Third Person POV

All Might stood dumbfounded in the central plaza of the USJ, his triumphant "I AM HERE!" echoing weakly in the eerie silence. His eyes, usually gleaming with heroic conviction, were wide with confusion, darting between the empty crater where the monstrous Nomu should have been and the two figures in the middle of the devastation: a severely injured Aizawa, leaning heavily on a remarkably unruffled Minato.

"Young Namikaze! Aizawa! What... what happened here?" All Might finally managed to stammer, his heroic posture completely deflated by the bewildering scene. "The villains, what happened to them?"

Minato calmly helped Aizawa sit down, his movements practiced and gentle. "All Might-sensei," he began, his voice clear amidst the quiet. "The villains were taken care of. Aizawa-sensei incapacitated many of them before I arrived, and I handled the rest." He paused, his gaze drifting to the deep crater. "As for the Nomu... it was a chimera, a creature designed with multiple Quirks. It possessed shock absorption and rapid regeneration, and it wouldn't have stopped until it killed its target. It was too dangerous to leave standing."

All Might's expression shifted from confusion to a grim understanding. He simply nodded, his eyes meeting Minato's. He didn't doubt the young hero's words. After their conversation in Principal Nezu's office, and the display of power Minato had shown, All Might knew Minato was capable of things that defied conventional Quirk understanding. The extent of this "energy" Quirk was clearly beyond anything he'd ever imagined.

Within minutes, the sirens grew louder, and the rest of U.A.'s faculty burst into the USJ, led by Principal Nezu and including heroes like Present Mic, Midnight, and Snipe. They quickly assessed the situation, their faces grim, but relief washing over them as they saw their students were largely unharmed, albeit shaken.

"Class 1-A! Are you all alright?!" Present Mic's booming voice, usually a tool for excitement, was laced with concern.

Students began to emerge from the various zones, their faces pale but largely uninjured, some still trembling from their encounters. "We're okay, Sensei!" Uraraka called out, followed by similar affirmations from the others. They quickly recounted their individual skirmishes, the terrifying dispersal, and the overwhelming power of the villains they faced. They were also filled with tales of Minato's impossible speed and destructive force in the main plaza.

The faculty quickly began the process of apprehending the knocked-out villains, securing them with their own Quirks and specialized restraints. The professional heroes moved with swift efficiency, a stark contrast to the students' chaotic but ultimately victorious efforts.

Soon after, police vehicles and ambulances arrived, their flashing lights adding to the surreal atmosphere. Paramedics immediately attended to the injured students, including Thirteen and Aizawa, while police officers began the tedious process of collecting evidence and transferring the apprehended villains. The USJ, usually a vibrant training ground, was now a crime scene.

Later, as the last of the unconscious villains were loaded into transport vehicles and the students were being safely ushered back to the main campus for debriefing, Principal Nezu and All Might stood together, a quiet conversation unfolding between them. They surveyed the damaged USJ, the shattered concrete, the deep crater in the central plaza.

"This was a well-coordinated attack, Toshinori," Nezu said, his small head tilted, his intelligent eyes assessing the damage. "They knew our schedules, they created a diversion, and they specifically targeted the USJ."

All Might's muscular form tensed. "And they brought... that creature. The one named Nomu." His voice was grave. "I should have been here."

"Indeed," Nezu replied, "but even you would have struggled against that level of shock absorption and regeneration. It was designed to counter you specifically. The true marvel, however, is that young Minato was able to neutralize it so completely."

All Might nodded, his gaze distant. "He simply... destroyed it. And the speed... the teleportation... he simply vanished and reappeared. It's a good thing he aspires to be a hero."

Nezu sipped his tea, his eyes twinkling with a deeper knowledge. "Indeed. His 'Quirk,' as he calls it, is truly unique. And the existence of a creature like the Nomu..." He paused, his tone growing serious. "Toshinori, there is only one individual capable of creating something with multiple Quirks like that. Someone who can steal and redistribute them, or even combine them into a single, grotesque entity."

All Might's blue eyes widened, a dark cloud passing over his face. The name, unsaid, hung heavy in the air between them. All For One.

Nezu's gaze sharpened, looking out at the distant city skyline. "This attack was a test, Toshinori. A reconnaissance mission. And a warning. They know you are here. And they now know we have a new, unpredictable variable among us in Young Namikaze."

The Symbol of Peace clenched his fists. The battle was far from over. The fight for the future had just begun, and Minato Namikaze, the mysterious young man with the unfathomable "Quirk," had just revealed himself as a formidable new player in the grand scheme of heroics.

The familiar hum of Minato's car engine filled the air as he expertly navigated the streets outside U.A. High. Beside him, in the passenger seat, Mina Ashido bounced with restless energy, while Kirishima Eijiro leaned forward from the back, his expression a mix of awe and lingering adrenaline. Toga Himiko, seated calmly beside Kirishima, gazed out the window, a wistful smile on her face.

"Oh, man, I wish I was there!" Toga sighed dramatically, turning her head towards Minato. "It sounded like so much fun! All those villains, all that blood... you guys get to have all the good fights!" Her eyes sparkled with a battle-hungry gleam, a stark contrast to the concern etched on the other two.

Mina shivered slightly, but quickly launched into a vivid recounting of the central plaza battle. "Toga, you wouldn't believe it! Minato was just... a blur! He took down those first villains so fast, like they were nothing! And then the Nomu came out, and it was terrifying! But Minato just... poof! He redirected its punch and blew its head off!"

"Yeah, but then it came back!" Kirishima added, his voice filled with awe. "And Minato made this giant, swirling shuriken of light, and just... poof! Again! The whole thing exploded! It was the manliest thing I've ever seen!"

Toga clapped her hands together, practically vibrating with excitement. "A giant shuriken of light! That sounds amazing! You really destroyed it, Minato-kun?"

Minato chuckled, keeping his eyes on the road. "It was neutralized, yes."

Mina then turned to Minato, a playful pout on her face. "Okay, but seriously, Minato-kun! Why didn't you tell us you could teleport and throw energy balls?! You've been holding out on us!" Kirishima nodded vigorously in agreement.

Minato glanced at them, a small smile playing on his lips. "It's not that I wanted to hide things from you guys. But after the first time I showed you my 'Quirk,' you all assumed it was just energy that could create lightning and let me stick to walls. After that, you never really asked me what else I could do. This specific energy ball and teleportation technique, I've developed them more recently, improving its efficiency." He shrugged slightly, a hint of genuine amusement in his eyes.

Mina and Kirishima exchanged glances, then slumped back in their seats, realizing he had a point. Their initial impressions had led them to make assumptions, and they hadn't pressed for more details. "Oh," Mina mumbled. "Yeah, I guess we didn't, huh?"

"So... what else can you do, then?" Kirishima pressed, his eyes gleaming with renewed curiosity.

Minato just smiled mysteriously. "I don't want to spoil all the fun for the future. For now, just enjoy the ride."

Mina and Kirishima groaned in unison. "Aww, come on, Minato-kun!" Mina whined. "That's not fair! We need to know our Class President's full power!"

"Yeah, it's unmanly to keep secrets from your buddies!" Kirishima added, a mock-offended look on his face.

Despite their complaints, a comfortable silence settled over the car. After a moment, Kirishima shifted, his tone growing serious. "But jokes aside, today was... a lot. Those villains were real, and they weren't holding back. It makes you think."

"Definitely," Mina agreed, her earlier playfulness replaced by thoughtful reflection. "I think we really need to step up our training intensity. If situations like this are going to happen in the future, we need to be even more prepared."

Minato nodded, his expression equally grave. "I agree. Today was a harsh lesson, but a necessary one. We need to be ready for anything."

The conversation continued with earnest discussions about their Quirks, their training, and the unpredictable nature of heroism, until Minato pulled up to Mina's house first, then Kirishima's, and finally, Toga's. Each waved their goodbyes, still buzzing from the day's events.

Minato arrived at his own home, the familiar suburban house a comforting sight after the chaos of the USJ. He unlocked the front door, stepping inside.

"Minato? Is that you?" his mother's voice called from the living room, laced with immediate concern.

He walked into the living room to find both his parents waiting for him, their faces etched with worry. "Mom, Dad, I'm home," he said, offering a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, everything's okay."

His father, usually calm, stepped forward. "We received a call from U.A. about a villain attack at the training facility today. They said all the students were safe, but... we were worried."

"It's true, there was an attack," Minato confirmed, opting for a simplified explanation to spare them undue stress. "But it was handled. The teachers and some students, including myself, ensured everyone was safe. No major injuries, and the villains are apprehended." He omitted the more gruesome details, the Nomu, and his own extensive involvement.

His parents exchanged relieved glances. "Oh, thank goodness," his mother sighed, placing a hand over her heart. "When they said 'villain attack,' my heart just about stopped."

"Well, you just rest now, son," his father said, patting his shoulder. "You've had quite a day. We're proud of you for helping."

Minato nodded, offering another smile. "Thanks, Dad. I'm pretty tired." He made his way to his bedroom, the door closing softly behind him. He dropped his bag on the floor, shed his hero costume, and changed into comfortable clothes.

He collapsed onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. The sounds of the USJ, the screams of the villains, the roar of the Nomu, and the terrifying hum of the Rasenshuriken still echoed in his mind. He had done what was necessary, protected his classmates, and ensured All Might's safety.

The day had been a whirlwind of high-stakes battles and strategic decisions. He had played his part, and the world was safe for another night. Now, it was time to rest. Tomorrow would bring new challenges, and Minato Namikaze, the Yellow Flash of U.A., would be ready.

In a dimly lit room, far across the sprawling city, a lone, flickering television screen cast an eerie glow. Tomura Shigaraki paced frantically, his gloved hands scratching violently at his neck, the raw, irritated skin a testament to his seething frustration. His rage was palpable, a suffocating aura of defeat.

"It was a failure, Kurogiri!" Shigaraki rasped, his voice ragged with fury. "A complete, utter failure! That little bastarf! He ruined everything! The Nomu was supposed to crush All Might, not get vaporized by some unknown Quirk!"

Kurogiri, ever the composed presence, stood silently beside him, his mist-like form a stark contrast to Shigaraki's frenetic movements. "Indeed, Shigaraki," Kurogiri's calm, ethereal voice responded, as if reading from an invisible report. "The mission to eliminate All Might at the USJ was unsuccessful. The diversion plan to exhaust him was effective, but an unforeseen variable emerged."

The face on the television screen, a shadowy, indistinct form projected from a place unknown, remained silent, patiently listening. This was All For One, the true mastermind behind the League of Villains, and Shigaraki's mentor.

"The student, Minato Namikaze," Kurogiri continued, detailing the battle with unsettling precision. "He possesses an extremely powerful Quirk. He demonstrated incredible speed, effectively teleporting across the battlefield. He systematically neutralized all the lower-tier villains with precise, incapacitating strikes. His actions in the central plaza were particularly decisive."

Kurogiri then recounted Minato's direct confrontation with the Nomu. "He intercepted the Nomu's attack on Eraser Head, redirecting its force. He then utilized a concentrated energy attack that caused significant damage, destroying the Nomu's legs and head multiple times. While the Nomu regenerated, his final attack was a highly destructive, wind-based energy vortex, which he called 'Rasenshuriken.' This attack utterly disintegrated the Nomu, leaving no trace."

The shadowy figure on the TV absorbed every detail, his presence becoming almost palpable even through the screen. "Teleportation, energy manipulation, cellular destruction... a very interesting combination," All For One mused, his voice a low, resonant hum that filled the room. "And he is just a student, you say?"

"He is," Kurogiri confirmed. "His combat instincts and strategic thinking were on par with, if not superior to, some Pro Heroes."

"Tell me more about his 'Rasendan' and 'Rasenshuriken'," All For One prompted, his interest piqued. "Describe the visual effects, the scale of destruction. Was there any energy signature distinct from known Quirk types?"

Kurogiri provided further details, describing the golden aura, the spiraling energy, and the concussive force of the attacks, reiterating the complete disintegration of the Nomu.

A prolonged silence followed, broken only by Shigaraki's ragged breathing.

Finally, All For One's voice returned, softer, yet with an undeniable weight of authority. "Tomura," he addressed his successor, "this was a learning experience. You failed to account for all variables, a common mistake for those new to true villainy. But you gathered valuable data. You exposed U.A.'s vulnerabilities, and you tested your Nomu, even if it met an unexpected end."

Shigaraki looked up, his scratching slowing.

"Do not despair, my successor," All For One continued, his voice now imbued with a strange, paternal reassurance. "This is not the end. It is merely the beginning of your growth. You will learn from this failure. You will understand how to manipulate events, how to anticipate the unexpected, and how to crush those who stand in your way. This Minato Namikaze has shown us a formidable new piece on the board. A piece we will have to account for."

"You are my successor, Tomura," All For One reiterated, his voice firm, unwavering. "There will be other chances to prove yourself. Many more. And next time... you will be ready."

Shigaraki stared at the screen, his furious scratching finally ceasing. The words, imbued with his master's unwavering confidence in him, slowly began to soothe his raw nerves, replacing his impotent rage with a cold, calculating determination. The defeat still stung, but a path forward had been laid out.
