In the capital city of Arkanhold, inside a huge white castle, the King of Velmora sat alone in a quiet room. He was wearing clean white clothes, sitting on a soft cushion, eyes closed, trying to meditate.
But something felt wrong.
His mind was full of noise. He opened his eyes and looked at a strange mirror in front of him. This mirror didn't show faces. It showed the emotions and power of the people in the kingdom.
And what the King saw made him very uneasy.
More and more peasants—normal people, poor people—were getting powerful abilities. Stronger than even some nobles.
"This isn't how it's supposed to be…" the King whispered.
In the past, only nobles had strong powers. That's how the system worked. Nobles ruled, peasants obeyed. But now? Even farmers and workers were awakening rare powers. And some of them were being chosen by nobles to join big factions.
Things were changing fast.
The King stood up and walked slowly. He looked at the glowing lights in the mirror, each light showing a person with strong power. And most of them were not nobles.
"This can't continue," he said, angry and nervous.
He wasn't just a king. He was also a man. And like any man in power, he didn't want to lose control. If peasants kept getting strong, the nobles would lose their place. People might even stop respecting the King.
He walked around the room, thinking hard.
"What if this year… something changes?" he said.
And then, an idea hit him.
It was a cruel idea. A smart one. And one that would stop peasants from getting strong powers.
"If I can't stop them from getting powers I will make sure they don't even get a chance to awaken"
Aric's POV
After I made my aunt completely mine with my ability, the system rewarded me. I got more stat points, new skills, and 500 U Tokens. A big bonus.
I now had 4 gold coins — two from before, and two new ones. I had sold the second dagger for 1 gold, then used my Photocopy power again. Boom, 2 gold turned into 4.
My level had also gone up — I was now Level 4.
My powers had grown stronger too. My Upgrade Touch could now be used twice a day instead of once. The cooldown dropped to 12 hours, which was great. Same with Photocopy — now usable twice a day.
I was feeling good. Strong. Powerful. I had money, three obedient woman under my control, and abilities that were growing every day.
Just as I was relaxing, Sarah came and told me something big.
"There's going to be a Peasant Awakening Ceremony in 10 days," she said.
I raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
"It's a chance for normal people to awaken a special power. If your ability is good, big factions or noble families might choose you."
Now that got my attention.
If I got selected by a powerful group… I could get access to their resources, money, maybe even rare items.
One item in particular came to my mind:
The Soulbeet Herb.
Only 2 days were left for the Peasant Awakening Ceremony. For the past 8 days i had a lot of sex with Darcy Sarah and my aunt and got many rewards most of them were just new skills opening, at the same I had been grinding like crazy. I trained every single day, used my stat points wisely, and even managed to earn 20 gold coins by upgrading and selling different items which then turned into 40 by my Photocopy skill . I didn't use my Slave Will ability on anyone new during this time — I wanted to stay focused and sharp for the Ceremony.
Everything was going according to plan...
But then, in broad daylight while I was training, Sarah came running to me with news that hit me like a slap.
> "The rules for the Awakening Ceremony just changed," she said.
"Now, only people above the age of 25 can join."
I froze. My brain didn't process it for a moment.
What?
This had to be a joke.
But her face was serious.
I felt pure rage bubbling inside me. How can they just change the rules like that? Awakening at a young age was the best — you got stronger abilities, quicker growth, and longer use of your powers. Making it 25 and above was clearly a trap.
This was the King's move.
He's scared. Too many peasants were Awakening good powers. Too many commoners rising up. Nobles were losing control, and now, this was their way of keeping us down — slowing us down.
And right now... there was nothing I could do about it.
Not yet.
But one thing was clear in my mind now.
> If I can't enter the Ceremony... I'll find another way to rise.
