Chapter 157 - Chapter 157: You Reap What You Sow

"Gardevoir~!"

Seeing the opponent command Blaziken to attack Jiang Chen, Gardevoir, standing by his side, flared with rage. With a single Psyshock, she blasted Blaziken straight out of the courtyard, knocking the Pokémon unconscious on the spot.

Gardevoir then turned a furious gaze toward Xu Jie. To dare attack her master this person was simply seeking death.

Although Jiang Chen had previously instructed her not to attack humans, now that this human had dared to direct a Pokémon to assault him, she wasn't going to hold back.

"Gardevoir, don't kill him," Jiang Chen called out.

Hearing this, Gardevoir pulled her strength slightly as she used her Psychic power to slam Xu Jie onto the ground. Even with her power restrained, Xu Jie was left dazed, his bones snapping from the impact. If Jiang Chen hadn't intervened, he would have surely died.

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Remember, don't kill him."

A cold light flashed in Xiao Luoxue's eyes. Although Jiang Chen hadn't been hurt, the fact that Xu Jie dared to order a Pokémon to attack him made her want to let Pikachu electrocute the man then and there. However, if he actually died, the aftermath would be troublesome. Angry as she was, she hadn't lost her sanity.

Already feeling like his skeleton was falling apart, Xu Jie was struck by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. He couldn't withstand the shock and fainted instantly.

"I haven't even made my move yet," Ling Wanqiu remarked. She had just released Haxorus, but before she could order it to deal with Xu Jie, the man was already unconscious.

If they continued the assault, it really would cost the guy his life. Commanding a Pokémon to attack a person was one thing beating him up in response was fine but killing him would complicate things. Reluctantly, Ling Wanqiu recalled Haxorus.

"How should we handle this guy?" Ling Wanqiu asked, her tone thick with resentment. "We absolutely can't let him off easy."

"Sister Ning Ya, have the public security personnel take him away," Jiang Chen said to Ning Ya as she walked over.

"Understood." Ning Ya glanced at Xu Jie, her expression icy. It was a blessing that Jiang Chen was unharmed. If he had lost so much as a single hair, she wouldn't have allowed Xu Jie to leave this place alive.

With a single phone call from Ning Ya, law enforcement officers soon arrived to take Xu Jie away.

The officers looked panicked. They were well aware of Jiang Chen's identity; if anything had truly happened to the young master, every single one of them would have been held accountable.

"That bastard, he almost dragged us down with him."

"Daring to command a Pokémon to attack the eldest young master? This guy won't be coming out of the cell for a very long time."

"If he didn't look so pathetic right now, I'd give him two punches myself."

The officers wanted to vent their frustration, but seeing Xu Jie's grim condition, they feared that even a light blow might finish him off. Xu Jie and his Pokémon were taken away; he was destined for a miserable end.

"He just had to bring this trouble on himself. Now he's finished," Jiang Chen said, shaking his head slightly.

Even though he was fine, it didn't mean he would let the matter slide. As long as he pursued the charges, Xu Jie who had no backing would never be released. To Jiang Chen, the incident was merely a minor interlude.

However, because of what happened, several people came to apologize to Jiang Chen over the next few days. Certain corporate groups that had scouted and sponsored Xu Jie were terrified when they learned he had provoked Jiang Chen, especially by daring to command a Pokémon to attack him. They arrived the very next day to offer their apologies, cursing Xu Jie a thousand times over in their hearts.

"These people are quite annoying," Jiang Chen muttered, having Ning Ya dismiss them. "I didn't expect Xu Jie to have so many supporters."

He hadn't anticipated that so many groups were tied to him. Though these corporations were small, it showed that Xu Jie had been quite a "prize" in their eyes.

"It's normal. After all, Xu Jie was a top student from the Tianhai Pokémon Academy. It's only natural for people to want to sponsor him," Ling Wanqiu explained.

While Xu Jie was nothing to them, he was a catch to others. A high-achieving graduate from Tianhai was bound to become an excellent trainer, making him a worthy investment. No one expected him to commit career suicide by attacking Jiang Chen.

The last person who dared to let a Pokémon attack Jiang Chen was still rotting in prison, likely never to see the sun again, and even his father an Elite Four member had been ruined.

Either way, their investment had gone down the drain, and they were left trembling in fear. Even if Jiang Chen chose to forgive Xu Jie, those sponsors wouldn't. They weren't philanthropists; they sponsored him for profit. Now that Xu Jie had brought them nothing but trouble, they likely wanted to tear him apart themselves.

Xu Jie had brought this upon himself. He had a bright future, yet he chose a path of self-destruction.

After Xu Jie was taken away, Jiang Chen didn't give the matter much more thought. His parents knew about it Ning Ya had informed them so they would certainly handle the cleanup. As for those who came to apologize,

Jiang Chen simply sent them away. He had no intention of making things difficult for them; they were mostly just scaring themselves. Jiang Chen wasn't petty enough to vent his anger on unrelated parties.

"It's time to open the Monthly Sign-in Gift Pack again. I wonder what I'll get this time."

Jiang Chen felt a surge of anticipation. His Gardevoir's egg had come from one of these packs, so he had high hopes.

[Ding! Monthly Sign-in Gift Pack opened successfully. Congratulations, Host, you have obtained: Adamant Orb!]

Seeing the reward, a flicker of disappointment crossed Jiang Chen's eyes.

"I'm not asking for a Legendary Pokémon egg every time, but at least give me something useful."

The Adamant Orb wasn't exactly worthless; it was a Legendary item, even if it couldn't match the immediate utility of something like the Blue Orb. The problem was that, for Jiang Chen right now, it was nothing more than a decoration.

The Blue Orb could help Water-type Pokémon improve their aptitude and strength, but the Adamant Orb was useless unless he possessed the God of Time, Dialga. This item was specifically for Dialga. Its effect was to increase the damage of Dialga's Steel and Dragon-type moves by twenty percent when held. Without Dialga, the orb was just a paperweight.

"Well... I'll keep it for now. Maybe I'll have a chance to get Dialga in the future."

Putting the Adamant Orb away, Jiang Chen got out of bed.

After a quick breakfast and feeding his Pokémon, Jiang Chen began his morning training. Morning was the best time for it, as the Pokémon were always energetic.

A short while later, Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue came out to the field nearby to train their own Pokémon. The two of them were currently quite competitive; if Ling Wanqiu trained for a certain amount of time, Xiao Luoxue would make sure to train just a little bit longer.

They were caught in a cycle of internal competition, but it was beneficial their Pokémon were growing stronger at a rapid pace. Competition was, after all, the best motivator.

"Young Master, Madam asked me to tell you that information regarding Mega Evolution has been leaked. They are preparing to make an official announcement," Ning Ya said, approaching Jiang Chen.

"It was leaked?" Jiang Chen was slightly surprised.

"Yes. It seems someone else discovered the function of the Mega Stones."

"If it's leaked, it's leaked. We've already secured enough Mega Stones anyway."

While Jiang Chen hadn't kept track of how many Mega Stones his parents had collected, he knew the number was substantial, including both Key Stones and Mega Stones.

"Now that information about the Mega Stones is coming out, will we be allowed to use them in competitions?" Xiao Luoxue and Ling Wanqiu asked as they walked over.

They had heard the news. They both possessed Key Stones and Mega Stones now, all of which had been gifted to them by Jiang Chen.

"They should be allowed," Jiang Chen replied. He couldn't be certain yet, but he expected his father would notify him as soon as a decision was made.
