Beedrill holds an absolute bully status in the forest. They live in colonies, are extremely territorial, and if provoked, they will attack fearlessly.
Encountering one Beedrill is nothing, but encountering a swarm of them means you're out of luck.
According to Alliance statistics, a quarter of trainers who died in forests over the years died from accidentally provoking Beedrill.
Besides Beedrill, there was another dangerous group in the forest: Spearow.
"Dragonite, use Hurricane."
He stood in the path of the Beedrill. Given the Beedrill's nature, they would certainly attack him, so he decided to strike first.
The danger of Beedrill was directed at ordinary trainers. For powerful trainers, there was no fear of swarms of Beedrill. Although they fought in groups, they were weak.
One Hurricane later, almost all of the Beedrill lost their combat capability.
Most of these Beedrill were Normal Level 9, with only a small portion reaching Elite strength. They simply couldn't withstand one move from Dragonite.
"Instantly gained over 1,500 points. No, I can't look anymore, or I'll just keep grinding monsters."
Defeating these Beedrill yielded over 1,500 points. Indeed, it was as he had guessed before: Elite-strength Pokémon, regardless of their Elite level, only gave 100 points upon defeat.
These Beedrill weren't dead. Pokémon have a protective mechanism: after losing combat capability, they only die if they suffer a fatal blow again.
However, if the strength gap was immense, one-hit kills could occur.
"Still not running? What are you looking at?"
Jiang Chen glanced at the Nidoran♀. This little guy was too bold, daring to run into Beedrill territory.
"Na na~!"
Nidoran♀ looked at Jiang Chen gratefully. Then, with a few blinks, it darted into the forest, quickly ran out again, holding a berry in its mouth, and placed the berry in front of Jiang Chen.
"Is it thanking me?"
Jiang Chen smiled and accepted Nidoran♀'s gift.
Nidoran♀ was a very common Pokémon. Although most were found in grasslands and plains, they could sometimes be seen in forests.
"I've accepted your gift. Go back now."
Seeing Jiang Chen accept its gift, Nidoran♀ was very happy, but it didn't leave. Instead, it followed Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen was surprised.
"You want to follow me?"
Nidoran♀ nodded.
This was the first Pokémon to actively want to follow him.
Other Pokémon were either hatched or directly obtained.
[Nidoran♀]
Gender: Female
Strength: Normal Level 5
Talent Potential: Elite Trainer
Attribute: Poison
Ability: Poison Point
Moves: Growl, Scratch, Poison Sting, Bite, Toxic
This little guy's talent was good. It was the first Elite Trainer-potential Pokémon Jiang Chen encountered in the wild.
"If only it were a Nidoran♂."
Nidoran♀ is only female. Nidoran♂ is the male counterpart of Nidoran♀. Nidoran♀'s final evolution is Nidoqueen, while Nidoran♂'s final evolution is Nidoking.
Nidoqueen and Nidoking have the same base stats, but Nidoqueen is too balanced in all aspects, with no particularly outstanding features.
"Since you're the first to actively follow me, and the first Elite Trainer-potential Pokémon I've encountered on this trip, you can follow me."
Jiang Chen took out a Poké Ball, responding to Nidoran♀'s anticipation.
However, after capturing Nidoran♀, it probably wouldn't be able to become a top-tier main force in the future. It might not even keep a spot in the second tier.
But it was still better than it staying in the wild. The wild carried all sorts of risks. Like this time, if Jiang Chen hadn't intervened, this Nidoran♀ would definitely have died prematurely.
"This is for you."
Since Nidoran♀ had become his Pokémon, Jiang Chen wouldn't be stingy. Even if it couldn't become a main force in the future, Jiang Chen would give it the best treatment.
Jiang Chen gave Nidoran♀ the Talent Potential Boosting Fruit he had obtained from a previous sign-in.
Nidoran♀ ate it in one bite. The moment it ate, a white light suddenly enveloped Nidoran♀. This light was familiar to Jiang Chen: the light of evolution.
"It's evolving?"
After about ten seconds, the light of evolution dissipated, revealing Nidorina's body. Nidoran♀ had evolved into Nidorina.
In terms of appearance, it was at least much better looking than the more mouse-like Nidoran♀, and it could now stand on two feet.
[Nidorina]
Gender: Female
Strength: Normal Level 9
Talent Potential: Elite Trainer
Attribute: Poison
Ability: Poison Point
Moves: Growl, Scratch, Poison Sting, Bite, Toxic, Dig, Sludge Bomb
After evolving, its strength also greatly improved, and it mastered several new moves.
"Come in, Nidorina."
Jiang Chen put Nidorina into her Poké Ball. Today's original plan was to catch two Pokémon, but unfortunately, he didn't encounter any other suitable ones.
If Nidorina hadn't actively followed him, Jiang Chen wouldn't have caught her.
"One more left to complete the mission."
Now Jiang Chen had a total of five Pokémon. He was only one away from completing the mission of having six Pokémon.
He could easily complete the mission by perfunctorily catching one, but Jiang Chen didn't plan to simply complete the mission for the sake of it.
If he was going to catch one, he would be responsible for it.
If he caught one with very poor talent, it would eventually just stay at home and retire. While it might not be a bad thing for that Pokémon, at least it would be away from the dangers outside, but Jiang Chen didn't plan to do that.
"Forget it, let's go back first. We'll come again tomorrow."
He returned his Pokémon, carried Ralts, and looked at Alakazam.
If not for Alakazam, Jiang Chen might have stayed overnight in the wild. But with Alakazam's Teleport, it was convenient. Why stay in the wild when he could go home?
Not to mention the wild was unsafe, the environment in the wild was definitely not as comfortable as home.
Alakazam used Teleport, taking Jiang Chen from the forest back home.
"Young Master, you're back. Are you hungry? Do you need me to arrange for someone to cook?" Ning Ya asked.
"Have someone cook. Prepare a cream cake for Ralts."
This was what Jiang Chen had promised Ralts. If he forgot, Ralts would be disappointed.
Hearing Jiang Chen arrange for a cream cake, Ralts was delighted, no longer feeling the fatigue from training.
Ning Ya arranged for the household chef and maids to prepare.
There wasn't just Ning Ya in the house; there were also maids and a chef. Otherwise, cleaning and feeding the Pokémon in the back mountain would be too busy.
