Chapter 17 - Acquisition of the Nuclear Power Plant Complete, Begin Charging

"Alright. Please wait a moment."

One of the guards spoke and nodded at the other. They divided the task—one went to make a call, while the other stood in place to remain on alert.

Chen Mo felt a little bored.

He didn't really have anything to say to this big guy.

And the guard looked cold and unapproachable—not the type to chat with.

So the two just stared at each other awkwardly.

Luckily, the guard who went to make the call returned quickly. Otherwise, the two of them might have awkwardly stood there long enough to "cringe a five-bedroom apartment into existence."

"Mr. Chen Mo, the station chief is waiting for you in the conference room. I'll take you in."

The guard's tone was noticeably more respectful now. Clearly, he had just learned from his boss that this young man might be his new employer.

"Alright."

Chen Mo followed behind the guard, his eyes scanning his surroundings.

The area was quite spacious, filled with large machinery, but due to internal reasons, it was currently in the process of being sold off.

Most of the generators and equipment had stopped operating.

The power plant had been listed for sale online for quite some time, and no buyers had come forward. The shutdown of these machines had become a serious issue.

Chen Mo frowned.

It looked like after acquiring the nuclear plant, he'd need to refurbish the equipment.

That would be another major expense.

If Black Domain Tech didn't start generating revenue soon, he'd end up starving to death.

They entered the conference room.

The room had a bit of a vintage style. Station Chief Deqiu and his secretary were pacing anxiously. With the plant shut down, they were desperate to sell it—every day it remained in their hands meant more operating costs.

When they saw Chen Mo enter…

They were stunned by his appearance. Deqiu adjusted his reading glasses, clearly surprised. He hadn't expected the potential buyer to be so young—he looked like a student.

"You're Chen Mo from Black Domain Technology?"

"Yes, I'm here to handle the acquisition," Chen Mo nodded, his gaze fixed on Deqiu. The older man had thinning blond hair with some white mixed in, but his eyes were still sharp. Clearly, he had been quite capable in his younger days.

"You're younger than I expected. Truly promising!"

Deqiu smiled. He didn't look down on Chen Mo for being young. He judged people not by age, appearance, or build—but by their eyes. Chen Mo's youth, self-assured gaze, and composed demeanor all made him seem extraordinary.

"Haha…"

Chen Mo chuckled dryly without denying it. His youthful appearance was indeed a disadvantage.

He had specifically dressed in a mature suit before coming.

But it seemed even that couldn't hide how young he was.

He cut straight to the point: "Mr. Deqiu, let's not waste time. You're looking to sell Union Nuclear Power Plant—I'm looking to buy. Let's get to the details."

"Good. Straightforward. I like that."

"…"

"My terms are simple: 50 billion cash. That includes the power plant and the 5,000 acres of land beneath it. Non-negotiable. You know this is a fair price."

That is a fair price… but I don't have enough money!

Chen Mo smacked his lips inwardly.

"I noticed that many of the power generation units are down. Repairs or replacements will cost a lot. 50 billion is too much—how about a 10% discount? 45 billion?"

"That's not possible. The board already said: anything below 50 billion and the deal's off. No negotiations," Deqiu shook his head.

Sigh…

"Not even a little discount?" Chen Mo asked.

"Nope. You know this price is already low. Just the land alone is worth hundreds of billions. I'm giving you the bottom line upfront. If you keep haggling, it won't look good."

Deqiu's voice grew anxious. He truly wanted to offload the plant as soon as possible, but the board wouldn't allow him to lower the price.

"…"

"Then I'd like to inspect the equipment first. See what's damaged," Chen Mo said after a pause.

"That's not allowed."

"Chen Mo, if you want to buy, place the order now. If not, forget it. We're not short on buyers," Deqiu replied, his eyes flashing with a brief panic—but he quickly recovered.

Chen Mo noticed it. He'd been observing carefully, and he caught the fleeting panic in Deqiu's eyes.

Which meant… the equipment was probably in worse shape than they admitted.

But he still had to buy it.

Because broken machines could be replaced—but the 5,000 acres of land and the licensed armed security were the truly irreplaceable assets.

"I'll buy it. But I have one small condition—I want to pay in installments."

Everything he'd said earlier was to lead up to this point. By raising all kinds of issues first, asking only for a small condition in the end—installments—the contrast would make the other party more likely to accept.

"That's a minor issue. As long as the schedule is reasonable, I can approve it," Deqiu replied with a hint of joy.

"Black Domain Tech will pay 8 billion upfront, 20 billion in three months, and settle the balance in six months."

Chen Mo met Deqiu's gaze as he spoke.

With 8 billion down, he'd still have 1 billion left as liquid capital.

Sure, he could stretch out the payment terms even longer, but there was no point. He was confident he could repay the remaining amount within half a month. With the system and Red Queen helping him, if he couldn't pay it back in six months, he might as well find a wall and bash his head against it.

"Six months, and only 8 billion upfront…" Deqiu paused to consider. The timeline wasn't a problem. The only concern was that the down payment felt a bit low.

Chen Mo looked up and seemed to sense the other man's hesitation.

"You don't need to worry. Black Domain will pay in full on time. But if you're really concerned, you can write it into the contract—if Black Domain fails to pay on time, you have the right to reclaim the nuclear plant."

"In that case, we have a deal," Deqiu smiled. That clause gave him enough security to feel confident.
