Avira's words caused a seizure in my heart, but before I could say anything, she pushed the door closed with a bang. I remained on the spot for a while, not sure whether to keep going, or to resume asking her to forgive me.
I opted for the former, recalling that she had sent me out herself. I didn't want to upset her more than she already was, so I dragged my heavy feet down the hallway, towards my bedroom.
Avira's door pulled open when I reached for my door, and Mira stepped out, holding the steamy cup she had brought in only a few minutes ago. Avira had probably asked her out of her bedroom too, probably to have some time alone.
I got inside my bedroom, and laid heavily on my bed, but I was unable to curtail the restlessness I felt. The image of Avira walking into Nanisca and I replayed in my head, and caused me to shudder in embarrassment and disgust.
